I have found an odd ball of a product all the way from Europe. Having just watched a TV show that showed a bunch of weird inventions and other silly things, this was their number one product. A breastfeeding doll!

Couldn't find the original commercial so I had to use this clip. There are opinions all over the map about this product, some say its good as sort of a teaching tool or way to explain things to little girls and others say it is rather creepy. I can see both sides of the arguement, but have nothing to add to it. I'm curious about what parents have to say about the doll so this is why I brought up this discussion. What do you think? Interesting doll, a possible teaching tool, or is it a rather strange and odd toy that shouldn't be around?
I think it's a little weird, and probably unecessary, but I don't think there's anything wrong with it. Most girls that grow up seeing their mother breastfeed younger siblings pretend to nurse their dolls anyway.
Seems a little odd to me. I'm not mortally offended or anything, but I doubt I would have bought it for my girls.
Its ridiculous. Let little girls be little girls FFS. Why not make a doll that gets it period too.
Breast feeding, I am fine with because it's a natural thing but seeing a kid wearing something which looks like a bikini top with nipples sort of creeps me out.

Exactly! This is what my daughter did (she was just under 3 when her sibling was born) and she sort of took care of it herself. She did not need something "targeted" or "engineered" for her development and understanding.

That's it for me. I'm a big proponent of breast feeding, but this setup creeps me out on a gut level. Ew.
Wow, whats next? Conception toys?
Remember years ago when the had the "Joey Stivic" doll from ALL IN THE FAMILY? It had a penis. If I remember correctly, it wasn't on the market very long. Sally Struthers did the TV commercials for it. The commercials never came right out and said the doll had a penis. They just mentioned that it was natural and educational or something like that.
In fact, here it is!

That has been around for years, it's known as Baby Alive. My sister had one in the 70's. You feet it "baby food" or give it a bottle. The stuffyou feed it passes through the doll and fills it's diapers.
If there were an anatomically correct female doll it would be considered a sex doll, but if it's an anatomically correct male doll it's somehow educational. Same goes for the breast feeding doll. I'm with 3mnkids on this one, let the little girls be little girls. Being naive is a part of being a kid. Are they going to be at some kind of advantage having a doll that teaches them about breast feeding? WTF!?

I wouldn't be surprised if they have one of those in Japan....
and soon we'll have a CHUCKY version of this.....
I'm wondering when will they come out with dolls that have realistic explosive diarrhea.
Also, is there really a market for a breastfeeding dolls? You know, besides serial killers?

Yup: a neighbour kid had one in the same time period. Funny thing, it must have been too difficult for a kid to clean out properly, because it rapidly turned into an unintentional science experiment and ended up in the trash - pretty gross!

Yeah, after a few days of feeding it, it began to smell like what it was suppose to be doing in the diaper. It got pretty rank. Our mother saved my sister's doll from the trash can by giving it a water hose enama to clean it out. However it never was able to "eat" again because the mechanic shorted out when our mom did that.
Wow. What feedback! So many different opinions from all over the place! Thanks for answering back!

Ah great! Now some foreign dude in Germany just read that post and said, 'Yes! That's a great idea!'
