I got an interesting assignment coming up in my English class. Our theme this semster is on advertising and our papers been on commercials and techinques used in ads. Our fourth paper will be on a movie with overblown amounts of product placement. It can be anything as long as there is enough advertising in it for other products. I'm leaning towards using Mac and Me for this paper since there is quite a bit of that in the movie. I cannot ignore some of this:

However, I like to hear some other suggestions on movies with a lot of product placement, whether it be in the foreground or actually play a big part in the movie. Is there any movies that you can think?
The live action Transformers has a lot of it.
I can't remember off hand if this is true or not, but I heard that Die Another Day pretty much made back most of its budget from advertising: pretty much everything was advertised product placement: the Gillette shaving kit, Bollinger, the cars, Finlandia vodka etc. And yet MGM are still in trouble. Go figure.
The only other one that springs to mind is Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle. I also particularly like product placement in Sci Fi films. Minority Report has a bit I think, but I quite like that moment in Fifth Element when the cops crash into the McDonalds truck/train thing...
Incidentally that clip is hilarious! And perfect to write about. Any clip that defies logic just so it can have a advert in it is a good one to write about.

Yes the Mountain Dew transformer, that marked the turning point of the movie from when it crossed over the thresh-hold from stupefying commercialism is to stupid commercialism!
The Wizard was basically one big Nintendo commercial. :twirl:

Man, how I forget a movie that litterly bathes and shows in its own product placement? Nintendo sure liked whoring itself out back in the 80's and early 90's.
:bouncegiggle: That's business. TOTAL MARKET SATURATION!!!!!!
Thing that's funny about The Wizard is the kids watching it at the time, myself included, were more interested in the products than the movie storyline. They could have had a 90 minute Super Mario Brow 3 ad and we would have paid to see it.
My favorite take on product placement is from Return of the Killer Tomatos. They do a bit in it which parodies product placements which makes me laugh everytime I see it. It's one of the few redeeming bits of the film, if not the only redeeming bit in it.
Demolition Man had quite A bit of Taco Bell in it.
Converse shoes sponsored Ice Cream Man
Like SkullBat said, The Wizard movie was a Nintendo commercial. I would go with that.
Nothing else tops it.

Yeah, but is there a dance number in a McDonalds? I think not! But yeah, The wizard would be a solid choice.

Yeah, wasn't George Clooney or some big actor in that movie? I heard it was like his or someone's idea when the movie to have it in there.

I was thinking of that one as well. Personally, I loved that movie.
Leonard Part 6
*Coca~Cola-Bill Cosby waves a Coke bottle in front of the camera for an entire scene.
*Alka-Seltzer-Is used to foil the villain.
*Palmolive-Sphere is filled with dish liquid.
*Lava Soap-The hallway in the theatre is filled with packs of the stuff.
*Adidas-The logo on Cosby's shirt.
The new movie, The Other Guys, with Will Ferrell and Marky Mark prominently features the iPhone as well as the Toyota Prius. It works them in well though, pretty seamless.
I have two movies:
The Pod People. There is a barn with a Pepsi logo on it.
Abraxxas, Guardian of the Universe. There is a lot of Pepsi being pimped out. There is a garage with some bottles are being dropped by Sucundas (I think that is how the name is spelled) and there is slow motion on the bottles breaking. There there is a convenience store scene, nothing but Pepsi signs and products. WOW.
Later,
John

You know companies used to pay farmers to used their barns as billboards, could have a coincidence.
Casino Royale as a scene where Bond and Lynd discuss what brand of watch he's got on.
Yeah, I'm sure that was important to the plot !
Vesper Lynd: Oh, you are? I like this poker thing. And that makes perfect sense! Since MI6 looks for maladjusted young men, who give little thought to sacrificing others in order to protect queen and country. You know... former SAS types with easy smiles and expensive watches.
[Glances at his wrist]
Vesper Lynd: Rolex?
James Bond: Omega.
Vesper Lynd: Beautiful. Now, having just met you, I wouldn't go as far as calling you a cold-hearted bastard...
Total Recall had a bunch of ads.
You gotta go with Josie and the p***ycats. The entire movie is product placement. Even involving the plot. Plus it has Rachel Leigh Cook is means its
