55: Tank
56: Gaskin
57: Jaguar And some of the American efforts:

I can't believe I forgot about all those NWOBHM bands. Practically every NWOBHM band I've heard has been killer.
How about Trespass and Holocaust to add to that list?
61.) Cannibal Corpse
62.) Deftones
63.) Killswitch Engage
64.) Black Sabbath

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nU5uDozoSSM

67) Meshuggah
next is 68

68. Dokken
69. Quiet Riot
I will admit that I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to metal.
70.) Il Nino
71.) Korn
72.) Disturbed
And, would Motley Crue be 'metal' or more of a 'rock/hard rock' band? Cause I'd put them at 73.
Sure, Happy: 73) MOTLEY CRUE
74) KISS
more thrash metal
75 Stone
76 Paradox
77 Artillery
78 Forbidden
79 Exodus
80 Accuser
These guys had a spot in the top ten of One-Hit-Wonders, but were hugley popular in their own homeland. I got to see them back in 1985, and dare I say that Loudness gave me one of Crazyest Nights of my life.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_iMJ-oAPVRY&feature=related
92) Nightrage
93: Candlemass Love him or hate him, Messiah Marcolin has an unbelievable voice, and this band would be welcome in either Heaven or Hell. This song is called Tales Of Creation
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EiNTlnq588Q
94: Ronnie James Dio! I'm suprised none of us have gotten to him yet. Oneof the greatest vocalists who ever lived. R.I.P. Ronnie.
95: The Rods. Ronnie's cousin Dave "Rock" Feinstein's outfit from Cortland NY. Their drummer, Carl Canedy, discovered Anthrax in a club in upstate NY back in the day (or so was said.) This one's called "Rockin And Rollin' Again."
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4rNr1GOL8dM
96: Death Angel. Thash simply cannot be complete w\o these Filipino rockers based in San Francisco, CA.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdiCmDwy2ZA

Death Angel also have 2 new albums out. One the put out in 2005 called
The Art Of Dying and one from closer to 2010, called
Killing Season. They've actually gotten harder in their sound, and both albums were very well recieved by the music media. Not bad for a group that hadn't had an album since 1990.
Youtube has a few of their never songs, like
Dethroned and
Buried Alive.
nice, will check.
i notice quite a few oldskool bands that were silent since early 90s have put new albums out. Pestilence did, and also Athiest have their first album sionce 93 coming out soon
might as well add them
96) Athiest - like a thrash version of Dream Theater almost
edit:fail. Happy already posted Motorhead #8...sorry
97: Metal Church with original vocalist David Wayne. Watch The Children Pray and Gods Of Wrath were great songs!
98.) Diamond Head---did anyone mention them? I don't think I saw them listed:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mbgv587ooNM
No THE CARPENTERS, THE PARTRIDGE FAMILY, WILLIAM SHATNER, or PAT BOONE yet?
99.) Inactive Messiah
100.) Hollenthon

HAHA! Almost forgot about that album from Pat Boone! That actually had some good arrangements on it! And from what I remember reading, Boone said he actually found Ronnie James Dio to be very personable when they worked together. Nice to see that they got along, the results can be heard in the album. A good fun time!
What about removing Shadows Fall because they're really horrible live and putting Light This City in there instead?

And I call myself a NWOBHM fan....that's one that got away :buggedout:
Yes, Diamond Head was a big influence on Metallica as well as one of the leaders of the pack, like Raven, Saxon and The Tygers Of Pan Tang, to name a few.

I'm surprised they got overlooked. Quite a good band, least in my mind. I also like Tygers of Pan Tang.
I'm surprised that Accept weren't mentioned.

Accept, as mentioned above...maybe Helloween?? how about Trouble..(anyone remember those guys?)

True! We should have our Headbanging licenses revoked.
Udo Dirkschneider was a very unlikely entry into the scene..he just didn't look the part, but man could he do it!
"Balls To The Wall"!

I sure as hell remember Trouble. They kick SERIOUS ASS! Speaking of doomier bands, how about The Obsessed, or Paradise Lost, St. Vitus, etc...?

yeah...I think this thread should continue. Paradise Lost, I heard some early stuff around 92-ish that was really good. never heard much since then tbh. loads of bands from the 'early days' of metal (which for me is like late 80s but obviously before then as well) not mentioned. it's only a list, but...
I'm wondering about the validity of Van Halen in a list like this. obviously they're most known for 'Jump' which is a pop song basically. A cheesy pop song. but some of their other stuff is really heavy and very 'metal' like their first couple of albums and in particular the 'Balance' album they did with Sammy Hagar years later. They should be in this list IMO
Where would CKY fit on the Metal chart?
"96 Quite Bitter Being" by CKY
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WgQ7qOCDFYQ
"Flesh Into Gear" by CKY
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k802qVfVSH4&feature=channel
Vastly underrated group that gets almost NO play by a lot of press.

Love em.
Bam owns a bar about a half hour from here. They're from West Chester, a college town a short 30 minute ride away. It's not uncommon to run into sombody from Viva La Bam or CKY.
