Title: Saw 3-D IS THE LAST SAW MOVIE
Post by: Olivia Bauer on October 12, 2010, 05:08:14 PM
*Phew*

Good thing we stopped it before it reached Friday the 13th level
sequel numbers.

There's no way it should have gone beyond the third. I loved the first one, I liked the second one, and I tolerated the third one. Everything after that was pure garbage.

So I guess in a few years it will be time to remake the original.

It's the final one until the numbers come in and they see it's made a profit and decide to milk the franchise with yet another sequel or some sort of tv show/comic series/sequel/prequel/remake/reboot.

I like the Saw series but if this isn't the final one for a while I'm done.

This series is more overdone than the Final Destination series.  I stopped watching after the second one.

I'm pretty sure it'll live on in various straight-to-video incarnations... :bluesad:

They should've stopped before the first one.

This won't be the last.  I guarantee it.

Unlike was the case for Friday the 13th and the like, the Saw producers themselves said that this would be the last one. If there's another one I call them on bold-faced lying and won't see the next in theaters. If there's a spinoff or something like that next, however, I'll welcome it.

I personally thought the third one was great myself and the sixth was solid... IV and V were "tolerated" by me.

I never watched the sixth one. I tried to watch IV and couldn't even finish it, so I gave up on the whole thing. I own a copy of th first and will watch that once in a while. It's still the best and deserves respect IMO.

IIRC, the original writer intended there to be a trilogy, and end it there.  It's pretty friggin' ridiculous to have so many sequels after

Jigsaw dies

I don't care what the producers say.  SAW will return.  It will come out as a SAW reboot or something.  Especially if SAW 3-D is a moneymaker.  For those of you who are old enough to remember, Spielberg said he would NEVER allow E.T. to be released on video because it is a movie that should be enjoyed in a theater with lots of other people.  Next thing you knew it was flooding the VHS market.  Money talks, boys and girls.

Excellent point, Burgo. Also, having seen E.T. originally in the theatre, it definately is a film that works best in that context.

Jason dies every film.  I've lost count as to how many reasons they've had for him coming back.  I think once was lightning, once was a 'spell' or 'curse', Freddy brought him back or something, then another reason or something.

Were there too many Saw sequels? Yeah.  Dude did die.  But at least he isn't resurrected.  He's in them but more or less in flash backs telling some parts of his life like finding the other apprentice, etc.  p**s poor excuse, yeah, but frankly half the people watching them wouldn't see them unless Tobin Bell is in it.  Dude's great.

Yeah, and while I enjoy the series, Friday the 13th is an incredibly dumb series of films.  Saw, at least initially, tried to have some degree of intelligence and had a fairly complicated plot with twists and what have you.  Then they made it really stupid.

Basically, if they wanted to have eight films, they never should have gotten rid of the main antagonist.  And since they did, they should have ended the series.  I totally agree with you on Tobin Bell though - he was the best thing about Saw from the very beginning.

The 1st one was really great. 2nd one was okay. I stopped during the middle of the 3rd one. skipped the 4th.

Got dragged to the theater for Saw V and Saw VI. Fell asleep in the theater both times except for the part where the guy gets his head squished by blocks of ice.

Didn't the writer or director of Saw 1 actually die right after it came out? That could explain how it got to this point of garbage.

I agree with that.  If they knew they were stretching it to 7, they shouldn't have killed him.  Could've still done the 'flashback' stuff they've been doing without him dying.  The series started off rather intelligently, dumbed down over time.  But you still have to remember a scene from part 2 in order to like, understand part 6 and stuff.  Which makes it almost a chore that when a new one gets released, you kinda have to re-watch the first films to enjoy the new one. :bluesad:

It was a producer.  The writer/directors of part 1 are still involved, but more indirectly.  But they're friend, who helped them with 1-3, passed away right after part 3 got released.

I'll believe it when I see it.  As long as suckers are paying to see this tripe they'll keep churning them out.
