Can you think of any movies that have a moment where there is a certain ammount of time until the desctruction of something or an event that takes double the time on screen than it should. For example, a character says "We have two minutes until the missles launch..." and 15 minutes later they eventually launch.
Oh man there's so many right now that I can't sort them out..
I might start with the scene in Invasion USA where there's something like 25 seconds left on a bomb that Chuck Norris removed from the side of a schoolbus...he then gets stuck in traffic and somehow winds up catching up to, and getting alongside the terrorists who planted the bomb (with like 3 seconds to go) and gets far enough of them to avoid the blast. Only Chuck..
I'm with Umaril on that one. I'll have to think.
More of a space than a time example, however, is Rocky II. In the climax, Rocky and Apollo are both trying to stand up in order to avoid a knockout. Now, there are three rungs of ropes in a boxing rings, but based on that movie you would swear there were twelve.
The Andromeda Strain - the lab's nuke was going to go off, causing the alien organism to multiply and take over the planet unless they could stop the countdown.
I think its in Trancers where someone has a 10 second slow down device (like bullet time) and when they press it, its last for about 2 mins !
Galaxy Quest plays this up for laughs and quite successfully too.
Grandpa Seth stopping time for 30 seconds so Joshua can stop his family from eating Nilbog food, but it takes Joshua about 90 seconds to pee on the table.

Troll 2 was the EXACT example that came to my mind first... What I also find funny about this one is that, unlike a lot of the others, the assignment of 30 seconds seems to the task seems to come out of nowhere. Why 30 seconds? At least with a ticking time bomb, you know why...
