For me, the two biggies are Procession by The Moody Blues ~ I had never heard stereo sound before in my life and this song scared the hell out of me ~ and The Man Comes Around by Johnny Cash. I believe that JC was dying when he performed it. :buggedout:
There was a spoken track on a John Denver album my family had when I was REALLY small. It was called "The Box" and it was about a box that, when opened, killed people, including children. Nowadays I just laugh at it, as it has a high WTF factor, especially since it's by John Denver.
And when I first saw it on HBO in the early 80s..

This a a very HEAVY melancholy song, yet it's also hopefull. The vocals just destroy me (in a good way, mind you)

Creepy...
The Well Of Souls by Candlemass. The haunting vocals, the music, and the lyrics come together to create a truly medieval imagery that just reaches down and grabs you. The song is from the 1987 album, Nightfall.
A very haunting and sinister song by a largely overlooked band that should have been bigger than they became.

To be honest, no songs have that particular effect on me. :teddyr:

So, what is it when somebody gets a joke without realizing it was a joke, and uses it to set up the same joke? That's common enough, there has to be a name for it.

When I first heard Black Flag's DAMAGED it freaked me out-. Then it became comedy-it's so overblown angst...!I do love Flag-there great! But I dont take them too seriously anymore-(if you ran into me in the 80's-forget it-Flag and the Dead Kennedys were my religion.

I don't know if he was part of that group then, but I worked with someone who was working on a project with Henry Rollins.

Yeah-Henry was the lead singer-an intense individual-commited-maybe he should be committed?-Nah-I joke.
Henry is a great artist-and from what I have heard-a very intelligent and nice guy. You would think by listening to his vocals that he was some kinda psychopath-but I draw pictures of nuns squirting blood out of their boobies-but it's just a drawing I'm not insane.
HAHAHAHA! :twirl:
YES I AM.
No im not..again-joking.
The art of making people think your nuts for money is what most punk rockers do well...if they were as crazy as there music-they would be in prison. Alfred Hitchcock made some of the most insane films of all time-he wasnt a killer.
Called imagination. A wonderful thing. Why most of us are here-on this forum-discussing giant dinosaurs and vampires-I love it.
Lustmords entire catalog pretty much sets my hair on end especially the tracks Dark Companions and Deep calls from Dub. Lustmord is a dark ambient band, so they dont really have songs so much as just tracks.
Bruce Springsteen's "Nebraska." It's a folk song retelling of the Charles Starkweather murders with a haunting harmonica. The ending lines
"They wanna know why I did what I did
Well I guess there's just a meanness in this world."
always give me a chill.

Talk about chills? I don't understand how this is EVEN a REAL song... whatever.

The studio version has a bit more of an eerie quality to it, but it's not on youtube.
The opening lines of The Sound Of Silence always make me go :buggedout: :buggedout: :buggedout:
"Hello darkness my old friend......" :buggedout: :buggedout:
Sorry this isn't a real song.. just a theme. But boy howdy it's creepy, and you'll hear it anytime Scissorman approaches!
