My Dad, who is 84, fell and broke his hip this weekend. He actually fell Friday night, and walked around on it for three days, thinking it wasn't broken. Then Tuesday it gave out completely. He had surgery yesterday and they used screws to put the fracture back together. He is resting comfortably this morning in the hospital.
Any good words you can put up for him would be much appreciated - prayers, of course, to whatever deity you pray to (no human sacrifices to Cthulhu, please!), positive vibes, karma, whatever. I just want him to get better soon.
He is my hero and my best friend, and I'm just not ready to let him go yet.
My prayer, good thoughts and vibes, and no sacrifices to Cthulhu (not even a little one) for your dad's speedy recovery.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery to Indy's father !
I'm sending out good vibrations!!!
My step-father was my father figure much moreso than my biological father. He passed two years ago, it became immedicately obvious how much of a glue he was for our family. Your father obviously carries that same weight for you. I can only hope I mean that much in my own little family.
I have a defiant nature, and I am convinced it is why I almost never get sick. I just refuse to accept it. I'll throw a little of that your pop's way, Indy.
I'm sending positive thoughts his way! I hope he's back on his feet soon.
Best wishes to your Dad for a speedy recovery. In no time he'll be ready for DANCING WITH THE STARS! :teddyr:

Oh wait. You said NO Cthulhu... Sorry. :teddyr:
Hope your dad's soon up and about. Broken hips are a pain in the ass.
My best wishes to your dad Indy, I hope he recovers soon. My parents are getting to that age where I'm always worried one of them will fall and break something too.
Best wishes for your dad!
Wish him luck for us!
Best wishes for a speedy recovery and lots of positive vibes being sent!
hi
Many best wishes to your father indy, long may he walk by your side and share many more happy days with you and your family.
I'd just like to say best wishes for your Dad's full recovery!
Your dad is in my thoughts and prayers, Indianasmith.
If your Dad is tough enough to walk around on a broken hip for 3 days then he's easily tough enough to handle the recovery. As a matter of fact if they prescribe any type of rehab exercises for him he'll probably be running circles around you in no time.
Best Wishes to you and you Dad.
Prayers made. May his recovery be swift and complete.
I tried to make a bad joke out of Isaiah's son's name: Maher-shalal-hashbaz ("Swift is the booty, speedy is the pray prey"), but it just wasn't happening. Still, may his booty be as swift as your praying. Or something like that. :tongueout:
I hope he gets well soon! And I hope you can keep him resting long enough to get better! He sounds like one of those "It's just a scratch" kind of guys.

That's just what I was thinking: he is one tough dude if he can walk around with a broken hip.
Hi Indy
I did a one card Tarot reading for your dad and it came up with the Temperance card.
This means that patience and moderation will result in good management of all things. Temperance is the card of good health in all areas - physical, mental and emotional. When illness or disease is a concern, Temperance holds out the promise of vitality and well being.
Balance is the key. Moderation and patience and it will all come to pass.
Don't fear sweetie - it's all good.
Thanks KB!
It's been established for year's that a positive mental attitude is often instrumental in a person's recovery, no matter where that positive attitude comes from. Indianasmith, you're one of the most positive people on the board, so I think your father will be served well by good company.
So here's to wishing your father recovers quickly!
How is your dad doing now, Indy?
He's been moved to rehab. He was really tired when I went to see him yesterday, but he is making good progress.

As I said before, good wishes to Indy Senior.
Thanks Trevor!
Sorry for getting in on this thread late but my best to your father Indy. May he recover nicely.
Sending positive vibes your way, keeping your Dad in my thoughts and prayers.
Wow, Indy...sorry that I missed this thread until now. Prayers and best wishes to your Dad, you and all your family.
My Mom broke her hip last summer and she had a REAL tough time for a while. She's got tons of medical issues (including some worsening dementia), and there was a time we thought it was 'her time.'
But, she has recovered tremendously...sounds like your Dad is on the mend. Here's to that path continuing.
I went by this afternoon, and he has been up - either walking or inhis wheelchair - for the entire day. He's tired but encouraged by his progress.

Very sorry to hear and wishing the best to him and your family.
Here's to rebuilding him stronger and faster than before! [Thats what modern science does with broken bones right, build cyborgs out of him?]
All the best to both Indy and Indy snr!
Best wishes to your dad, Indy. The cards don't lie :teddyr:

Obviously he ain't takin' it lyin' down, as I expected from your description of the man.
How is Dad doing now, Indy? I hope well.
Be thinkin' about your dad, Indy.
Went by to see him yesterday. They took his staples out while we were there, and he is to be released from the hospital next week on Tuesday. He'll be taken to a nursing home for further rehab and will hopefully be back in his home in another month or so. Doctors say the fracture is knitting nicely.

Great news!
Do your best to keep him patient. The guy's gotta be sufferin' from cabin fever right about now.
He said all the motivation he needs is to remember just how bad it hurt when he broke it! Apparently it was awful.

Ouch! And he still walked around on a broken hip for three days? Yow. :buggedout: :buggedout:
He'll be ok-sounds like a tuff guy-like his son.

I think he was referring to when the fracture separated - he didn't really feel anything except sore after his fall. But boy, when that thing let go a few days later, he was in agony! I'll be going to see him again this afternoon. I'll pass along y'all's good wishes.
