Title: syfy channel feautres
Post by: scully22 on April 20, 2011, 03:09:59 PM
Hi there, I'm new around here, people call me Scully. I love B movies so I think I'll just hop right into this....

A lot of my favorite bad current movies are all in one place: the "sy fy" channel. Now they definitely have gotten much better since the 90's, but still, in the movie world I'd consider the majority of them "b". I can't help it, I love them! The cheesy cgi, the "I hope someday I'll make it" actors, and the cherry on top, the dialog. My friends tend to criticize me on my love for the B genre, but I hold steadfast. Anyway, I've been working a couple different scripts that would fall into the B genre and I've made a couple (sort of) contacts who are connected to the sy fy channel movie department. Honestly, my hopes are high, and even if no one ever gets to nationally view my B-movies, I'll still write them. :)

Anyway, just sharing,
Scully

In a way, I'd agree.  The cheesy CG monsters are just the modern eras version of the old bad rubber suits that where throw together for ten bucks (if that.)

If Sci-fi (and refuse to use the new name) has a problem, it's that they don't always go all out and exploit how silly their ideas are.

I really liked "Road Kill" it had the most ridiculous giant bird I've ever seen. Plus Kacey Barnfield is in it, she's hot!

Honestly, I think bad puppets (The Giant Claw) are funnier than bad CGI, so most of the Sci-Fi channel doesn't do much for me. Birdemic is one of the few exceptions to this rule, though. ;)
I do remember getting a kick out Sabretooth, Frankenfish and Dragon Fighter, but it's been way too long since I've sat through these crapsterpieces.

I used to watch quite a few of those.   Some were fairly entertaining in a bad movie way.  Haven't seen one in quite a while though, I think since I got Netflix streaming and can watch stuff like that commercial free any time I sort of lost interest.  The thought of sitting down at a specific time to watch 40+ minutes of commercials in a 90 minute movie just doesn't appeal to me any more.
