01. $252,583,617 - Return of the Jedi (my least favorite of the trilogy, but still good)
02. $108,423,489 - Terms of Endearment (Oh Dear God, no!)
03. $092,921,203 - Flashdance (See Terms of Endearment)
04. $090,404,800 - Trading Places (love it!)
05. $079,567,667 - WarGames (I don't care what anybody says, love it!)
06. $067,893,619 - Octop***y (liked it)
07. $067,642,693 - Sudden Impact (least favorite of the Dirty Harry series due to presence of Sondra Locke)
08. $064,892,670 - Staying Alive (never saw the whole thing)
09. $064,783,827 - Mr. Mom (love this movie on a similar level as I love The Money Pit)
10. $063,541,777 - Risky Business (good but not as good as many seem to think it is)

11. $061,399,552 - National Lampoon's Vacation (my favorite Chevy Chase movie)
12. $059,950,623 - Superman III (one of my worst theatre-going memories)
13. $056,342,711 - The Big Chill (See Terms of Endearment)
14. $055,432,841 - Never Say Never Again (never saw it)
15. $045,517,055 - Jaws 3-D (so-bad-it's-good movie for sure)
16. $044,668,798 - Scarface (a classic, no argument, but not in the top 5 gangster movies as some seem to think)
17. $042,313,354 - Blue Thunder (I was fascinated by this movie as a young man but haven't seen it in many years)
18. $040,218,899 - Yentl (make fun of me if you want, but I liked it)
19. $035,615,609 - Silkwood (everybody thought it was a great film at the time, I just thought it was decent)
20. $034,725,000 - Psycho II (I liked it back then, but I haven't seen it in a long time)

I remember the media making such a huge deal out of this. Anthony Perkins returns! We went to see it twice at the theater when I was a kid, and we had to stand twice in line that went around the block. Good times.

Hey, instead of listing the highest ranking (money wise) movies from '83, could we have a thread about some of the more obscure movies that came out then?
1981-1983 was THE golden era of slashers!

Seen almost all except for Sudden Impact, Staying Alive.

I highly, HIGHLY recommend both! Well, maybe not Staying Alive. I like it (mainly for the music), but it is painful to watch.

02. $108,423,489 - Terms of Endearment (Arrgghhh!!!)
03. $092,921,203 - Flashdance (I think I saw this but I have no memories of it whatsoever besides dancing)
04. $090,404,800 - Trading Places (I enjoyed this quite a lot. Jamie Lee Curtis..wowsa!)
05. $079,567,667 - WarGames (This wasn't half bad.)
06. $067,893,619 - Octop***y (I thought it was fun)

I can't remember if I saw ROTJ in the theater or not. I'll have to ask my brother.

Wasn't Never Say Never Again an HBO movie?  Or was it made by HBO and released in theaters?  That one and OHMSS are the two Bond movies that are just out of place.  Even though I liked NSNA.

01. $252,583,617 - Return of the Jedi
Pretty lame ending to the original series, frankly.

02. $108,423,489 - Terms of Endearment
Never saw.

03. $092,921,203 - Flashdance
One of Mom's favorite movies, but I somehow never got around to seeing it.

04. $090,404,800 - Trading Places
???

05. $079,567,667 - WarGames
Seems to be well-remembered but it's never done anything for me.

06. $067,893,619 - Octop***y
A little bland and even Roger Moore seems to think he's been doing this for too long.

07. $067,642,693 - Sudden Impact
Never saw.

08. $064,892,670 - Staying Alive
???

09. $064,783,827 - Mr. Mom
Not that good.

10. $063,541,777 - Risky Business
???

11. $061,399,552 - National Lampoon's Vacation
I'm not sure how this got an R-rating.  They show it uncut on Fox Family Movies, now.

12. $059,950,623 - Superman III
Just an unfunny comedy.  The computer should have been Brainiac, instead of just a computer.

13. $056,342,711 - The Big Chill
???

14. $055,432,841 - Never Say Never Again
I liked it better when it was Thunderball.

15. $045,517,055 - Jaws 3-D
I have a soft spot in my heart for this movie.  For one thing, this is probably the very first movie the whole family gathered to watch on Grandmom's VCR, the first one the family owned.  For another, if you look hard enough there actually is a good buildup to the "big reveal" of the Momma shark.

16. $044,668,798 - Scarface
The only part I like is the big shootout after he snorts about six pounds of coke at the end.

17. $042,313,354 - Blue Thunder
Never seen all of it, bits and pieces on TV.

18. $040,218,899 - Yentl
???

19. $035,615,609 - Silkwood
???

20. $034,725,000 - Psycho II
Never saw.

01. $252,583,617 - Return of the Jedi - YES YES! One of my all time favorites.
04. $090,404,800 - Trading Places - one of my favorite comedies. Proof that Eddie Murphy was at one point funny.
16. $044,668,798 - Scarface - I liked this, haven't seen it in years.

Never saw the rest.
