This is just f**ked up. It's poem some mother reads to her kids at night when they ask why we celebrate Bin Laden's death. This i not something you tell a kid.
"Bin Laden was a bad man,
he hurt many people, don't ask me why
our soldiers went out and shot him in the head
and now that's dead, close your eyes and go to bed."
I thought "Ten Little Indians" was screwed up.
That's nothing new:
Ma, abinoojiiyens Hush, little baby
nibaan go to sleep;
gego mawiken do not cry,
gemaa makwa or the naked bear
giga-amog. will eat you.
- Ojibwa lullaby
We had a Jamaican housekeeper for a while who would put my brother to bed with stories of hand-sized spiders who eat children who won't go to sleep. To this day he is arachnophobic.
Ohhh......I think I need some surgeons.....
Forget about the 72 virgins......
[BANG] Ohhhh.....I think I may be dead.....
WTF? Dude: Where's my head?
:buggedout:
Well, this is one is pretty terrifying, too:
Rockabye, Baby
In the treetop.
When the wind blows,
The cradle will rock.
When the bough breaks
The cradle will fall.
And down will come baby,
Cradle and all.
Splat.
My grandmother used to sing us this surrealist nightmare:
Three six nine
Goose drank wine
Monkey sittin' on the street car line.
The line broke
The monkey got choked
And they all went to Heaven
In a little row boat.
Yeah, nursery rhymes and fairy tales used to be pretty morbid, as was the classic children's bedtime prayer that ended:
"If I should die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take."
That scared the hell out of me as a kid. I notice somebody has since changed that to something about guarding through the night until the morning light. I don't generally agree with sanitizing a classic, but this is an exception I'll gladly make.

Yeah, that used to scare me as a kid too. Nice to be reminded on a nightly basis that you might not make it to morning.

Wha... Maybe you should tell them why he hurt people so it sounds like he deserved it. (Not that i'm saying he didn't cause he did).
Koo-ka Berry sits in the old gum tree-ee,
Merry merry king of the bush is he-ee,
Laugh Koo-ka Berry! Laugh Koo-ka Berry!
Laugh Koo-ka Berry! Laugh Koo-ka Berry! Gay your life must be...
