OK-I'm ripping off an idea. Hey-this is BAD MOVIES-most Bad movies are rip offs of other movies...I follow suit!
Crime-gangsters-and such.
1.COPKILLERS-two guys smuggling coke get in deep s**t. Anything that can go wrong does. Doesn't help that one of them is a psychopath.
2.BLOODY MAMA-Shelly Winters and sons go onna rampage.
3.PUBLIC ENEMY-Jimmy Cagney-nuff sed.
4.GOODFELLAS-nuff sed.
5.the EXECUTIONERS aka MASSACRE MAFIA STYLE-this stars Duke Mitchell...the Dean Martin wannabe from BELA LUGOSI MEETS A BROOKLYN GORILLA! Besides that-it's an unsung classick! "Today we eat-tommorow we kill!!!"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=got1Bo6hVIw&feature=related
Thats Duke with the 'stache and sideburns.
1.) Scarface
2.) Blow
3.) Goodfellas
4.) Casino
5.) Godfather Pt. 2
I'm kinda mainstream on my list. I do feel Scarface is the ultimate crime movie. Tony Montana is a guy you should hate but end up loving for his tenacity.
In no particular order (and this list could change 5 seconds after I type it):
* GODFATHER, PART II (I love the original, but I think part II is a better overall movie)
* THE FRENCH CONNECTION
* DOG DAY AFTERNOON
* BONNIE AND CLYDE
* ANGELS WITH DIRTY FACES
THE KILLING (1956)
PULP FICTION
RESERVOIR DOGS
THE GODFATHER
SCARFACE
Godfather 1/2
The Usual Suspects
LA Confidential
Silence of the Lambs
Scarface
Others receiving votes:
French Connection
Seven
Batman (Keaton/Nicholson)
Pulp Fiction
Munich
Requiem for a Dream
A Clockwork Orange

Scarface (1983) w/ Al Pacino
Dog Day Afternoon (1975) w/ Al Pacino
Clue (1985) w/ Tim Curry
Lethal Weapon (1987) w/ Gibson, Glover
1.At Close Range
2.Scarface
3.Goodfellas
4.Reservoir Dogs

Boyz N The Hood
Colors
The Untouchables

Miami Blues
Magnum Force
Not necessarily in order of preference:
The Godfather Part 2
Goodfellas
Once Upon a Time in America
The French Connection
Repo Man, only because of the single greatest crime line in all of cinema: "Come on, let's go do some crimes."
ALMOST HUMAN - I've never seen a lower lowlife depicted in a movie than in this.
CRIME WAVE (1954) Great street level film noir.
THE ASPHALPT JUNGLE
WHITE HEAT
QUICKSAND - Mickey Rooney as a regular Joe who makes one dumb decision after another.
I guess I should throw in some honorable mentions:
* BULLITT
* SHAFT
* TAXI DRIVER

Lotsa films involve crime-ie:murder is a crime. But when I think of "crime" films,I think of gangsters or heists or professional killers. While what Travis does in TAXI DRIVER is a crime- and Sport as a pimp too-I think of it more as a psychological study.Along the same lines as PSYCHO.
But that's just my opinion.
In no order:
1) Striking Distance
2) Robocop
3) Cobra
4) Class Of 1984
5) True Romance
All these involve crime. I'm not sure if this was what you are looking for though.

True . . . but the whole atmosphere of TAXI DRIVER is prostitution, pimps, drugs, and general street sleaze and Bickle's obsession with cleaning it up. But your point is well taken and maybe that's why I only gave it an honorable mention. Overall, it's a better movie than some of the others I mentioned, but maybe not a better
crime movie.

The Maltese Falcon
One of my favorite movies. For whatever reason I don't consider it a "crime" film, though I can see how you would put it in that category. I was thinking mostly of gangster/heist type movies; if I included film noir and murder mysteries I might come up with a whole new list.

It is. :smile: A very specific type.
5- Reservoir Dogs (I honestly didn't expect to see this one show up on the list this much, I thought I'd get laughed into next week for this one... not that Black Caesar won't likely garner a few chuckes too, especially with how high it is on my list)
4- Goodfellas
3- Bonnie & Clyde
2- Black Caesar (my favorite blaxploitation movie, and my second favorite crime flick in general... Fred Williamson's best picture if ya ask me)
1- Once Upon A Time In America (to me it's unparalleled, Godfather can suck my schwag... Once Upon A Time In America is an
