Here's a topic for the top 100 depictions of Dracula. Just Dracula. No other vampires allowed (unless the movie/TV show/cartoon implies that the character might actually BE Dracula.)
So, let's start the list with the big #1 ...
(http://img694.imageshack.us/img694/4190/belalugosiakadracula15.jpg) (http://img694.imageshack.us/i/belalugosiakadracula15.jpg/)
Bela Lugosi as Dracula
as seen in ...
261 Broadway productions of Dracula (starting in 1927)
Dracula (1931)
Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948)
2. Christopher Lee (The Hammer series)
3. Gary Oldman (Bram Stoker's Dracula)
4. John Carradine (Dracula prince of drakness)
5. Udo Kier (Blood for Dracula)
6. Duncan Regehr (The Monster Squad)
7. Frank Langella (Dracula 1979 version)
8. Enrique Sarasola (Killery Barbys vs Dracula)
9. Frances Lederer (The Return Of Dracula)
10. Rudolf Martin (Dracula the Dark Prince) and (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
Is there even 100 'Dracula's'? I wish we could list Vampires as well.
QuoteIs there even 100 'Dracula's'? I wish we could list Vampires as well.
I'm not even sure. There's certainly a lot of them, I know that much. We'll see how this plays out.
While it's only a minor classic of sorts, I'm going to throw my ante into the pot for Frances Lederer for his 1958 movie The Return Of Dracula. He's definitely top 100. He had a very good performance.
In many ways, I liken Lederer to Jonathan Frid as Barnabas Collins, though Lederer's role as Dracula was 8-10 years before Dark Shadows but some similiarities exist.
Bellac and Barnabas both infilrated a family by claiming to be relatives from the old world (though Barnabas was in his case) and they both perplexed their relatives by only going out at night. Both also displayed similar behavior when covering their true identities, always convincing people that they were who they said, but not w\o that trace of the unknown that alluded to darker origins. R.O.D is very underrated movie.
Oh and hey, for number 2 on the list: Christopher Lee!
#3 Gary Oldman's 1992 Dracula
* Blood for Dracula (1974)
* Christopher Lee as Dracula
* Duncan Regehr as Dracula in The Monster Squad (1987)
* Gary Oldman in Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992)
* Frank Langella in Dracula (1979)
* Jesus Franco's Killer Barbys vs Dracula
What? No pictures?
Castlevania Draculas are always good.

Remember now, vampires cast no reflection, so therefore no pictures
#4. JOHN CARRADINE

#10.
(Because a bunch were listed that weren't numbered)

Rudolf Martin
as seen in
Dracula The Dark Prince
and
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Yes, Duncan Regehr's Dracula (The Monster Squad) he did a GREAT job and He looks retro.
I don't think anybody else will come up with this one.
Forgetting Sarah Marshall:
And lest we forget the terrible, awful Zandor Vorkov (aka Roy Engle) in Al Adamson's Dracula vs. Frankenstein. Now this is really pushing it :tongueout:
LOUIS JOURDAN did a terrific job in a made-for-BBC version back in the '70s:

Robert Quarry comes to mind too, as Count Yorga.
In regards to his moderate resemblance to another great actor, I always looked at Quarry as the poor man's Christopher Lee. Both movies were pretty good.
Not only in the to Count Yorga films, but even his performance as the hippie vampire in The Deathmaster, Quarry showed a flare for the sinister. He was pretty cool.
15.Lon Chaney Jr. in the very atmospheric SON OF DRACULA (1943)

16) Phil Fondacaro in The Creeps

17. OK-here's a rarity-an actor named Paul Askonas had the honor of portraying the Count before Max Shreck or Lugosi in the Hungarian(!) made DEATH OF DRACULA in 1921! Here's a photo!
Unfortuantly-we will never see it. It's lost. Some stills are all that remain-and the mere fact that the film existed was unkown until recently.

Hmm...now
this an interesting find! And on the topic of lost films, I'm sure that Lon Chaney Sr. would have had no problem earning a spot for his role in
London After Midnight, if that film were still in existence.

LONDON AFTER MIDNIGHT: Which,of course, was remade by the same director ( Tod Browning-who directed DRACULA)with Bela Lugosi as MARK OF THE VAMPIRE (1935)
Here's the original poster for the Hungarian DRAKULA HALALA (1921) aka the DEATH OF DRACULA.

I like Count Yorga (1970) as well. I like when he kicks the bucket, funny stuff!

I still need to watch The Return Of Count Yorga (1971).
Also keep in mind Count Yorga is just a 'Vampire'.

f**k Robert Quarry. What did he do? the Yorga films? Some other obscure s**t? f**k HIM!!!!! Robert Quarry isnt fit to smell Bela's s**t! :hot:
OH-I thought Jack Palance was excellent-I recall watching it when then vice president Spiro Agnew jumped the boat.Had to catch the rest later. f**kin Agnew.
For all you kids-Spiro Agnew was the a***ole who was vice prez under Nixon. His "Mommy! Im about to get f**ked!" speech cut into the Jack Palance DRACULA. p**sed me off. f**k Agnew. :hot:

In the anime "Hellsing" Alucard later turned out to be a reincarnated Dracula, meaning he qualifies. In the anime Alucard is a hero. Hard to call this guy a hero though.
*Shivers*

Dan Curtis was resp. for Jack Palance as Dracula? Hmm...a certain Jonathan Frid got his vampiric rise to fame under the same man when he decided to hide in all those "Dark Shadows"...
Oh and Quarry also did another "obscure" classic called
The Deathmaster that's not as unpopular as some would have it.
John Forbes-Robertson played Dracula in the kung fu/horror film the LEGEND OF THE 7 GOLDEN VAMPIRES (1974).
He also had bit parts in LIFEFORCE (1981),the VAULT OF HORROR (1973) and the VAMPIRE LOVERS (1970).

Your quotes are a little mixed up there,
UTU, my friend...???
I pointed out
JACK PALANCE and was quoted by
RCM... I myself like
ROBERT QUARRY in
YORGA movies!! I didn't write any of that bad stuff!
The Spainish actor Narciso Ibanez Menta played the Count in a Spainish TV series in 1970 and in the feature film the SAGA of DRACULA (1972).
Actually-he was a quite the horror star in his home country!
Would you believe Vincent Price as Dracula???
Actually-he plays an actor scaring the gang of the 1960's TV show F TROOP!
I have't seen said episode, but according to the book HEROS OF THE HORRORS by Calvin T. Beck-he uses a Lugosi type accent as well!!! :buggedout:
Six words.
"Children of de night-shut up!"
and "Oh...what was that maniac drinking?"
and of course..."But remember this. Without me, this place will be as exciting as...Bucharest...on a Monday night."
Before Leslie Neilson and-eh-I gotta look it up George Hamilton- David Niven was OLD DRACULA.

Personally-dont think there are a hundred Draculas-but dam if I wont hunt them down! IM ON A MISSION!!!!
:twirl:
Hey- I dont make this s**t up-I am a tool of worthless information.

Charles Macauly had a brief but memorable role as Dracula in BLACULA. In the prologue set in the 1800's he locks William Marshall in a coffin (I don't remember why) and dubs him Blacula!
Udo Kier was a rather sickly Dracula in BLOOD FOR DRACULA aka ANDY WORHOL'S DRACULA. He could only drink the blood of virgins since non-virgin blood made him blow chunks. Joe Dallesandro offers to help out the heroine to make her blood undrinkable to Dracula.
SPOILER! Kier gets his arms and legs chopped of but keeps hissing and fighting, just like the Black Knight in MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL!

And Gerard Butler as Dracula in Dracula 2000
(http://popculturemonster.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/dracula-2000-01-g.jpg)
Rudolf Martin. He gets points because he both played Vlad the Impaler AND Dracula himself (in Buffy)
Even though I was a "Buffy" fan I hated that episode about Dracula. He was made out to be such a wuss. The real Dracula would kick Buffy's ass. lol.

Best show ever. :twirl:

I just saw that mix-up, and no worries, it was never an issue. I think there's enough Dracula to go around for everyone here, it's all good.
Correction. John Holmes played Dracula in the porn "Dracula Sucks" not Jamie Gillis, who played Dracula in another porno. I hope this clears up any confussion I may have caused to lover's of classic X-Rated Cinema.
