I heard this on the radio today at a Memorial Day BBQ. It's loaded with rhymes and syrup: "Seasons In The Sun" by TERRY JACKS
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9nnwzmf8Eyw&feature=fvst
"Goodbye to you my trusted friend... we've known each other since we were 9 or 10... together we've climbed hills and trees... learned of love and ABCs, skinned our hearts and skinned our knees, goodbye my friend it's hard to die... when all the birds are singing in the sky... now that the Spring is in the air... pretty girls are everywhere... think of me and I'll be there...!!"
This thread is for SAPPY SONGS, not songs you hate, just SAPPY SONGS. It's okay if you hate 'em, but not necessary. I like a couple of SAPPY SONGS (but not this one). Unsure what's SAPPY? Here's a definition:
Sappy: 1. abounding in sap 2. sentimental; mawkish 3. foolish
Got any SAPPY SONGS to post?
How about a sappy song about sappy songs?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCaZM_Ia7xw
I'll have a lot to contribute to this thread btw. I love really sappy love songs.
define foolish, because I don't want to be an idiot and post something that isn't sappy.

Love songs, songs about feeling blue, slow songs etc. I'd use Air Supply's collection as a starting point...

GILBERT O'SULLIVAN "

PAT BOONE "April Love"
El Toro Loco (BULL) removed his selection, unfortunately. It wasn't sappy, but that's okay.
Man, this is hard for me. Air Supply was the first thing that sprang to my mind too, but then I thought of all the bands I like that have done drippy, sugary ballads and I watched some videos......But they're all awesome and don't seem sappy to me. Oh well.

this was the first song that came to mind for me, however I only know the Lindsay Wagner (Bionic Woman) version:

This one-hit wonder song from the early 80's was was a major sap-fest. This Canadian band released one album, which enjoyed some success in Canada, but was virtually unheard in the U.S., until eventually the band broke up, and then the song became a hit in the States in the late 80's. Efforts were made to get the band back together in response to the sudden surge, but everybody had gone their separate ways.

Look at the band! The guy on the far left and the guy second from the right are painfully geeky, while the other three are like the typical quaffed 80's hair-guys. Priceless.
Funny, my older sister had that album in the early 80's for some reason. I think she bought it and didn't much care for it and I ended up putting it on the turntable a few times. There are actually a couple of fairly rocking numbers on that album, and decently produced for an unknown band from Canda. But yeah, that ballad is just seeping maple sap.
