- firstly, I'm not talking about 'Bad Movies' here, i.e. "so bad they're good" being the main reason you shouldn't like them but do...I'm talking about movies that are considered to be credible films.
what got me thinking of this was seeing MRS DOUBTFIRE again for the first time in years and not only enjoying it as much as I did the last time, but actually laughing out loud which is something I hardly ever do at films these days, and *sissy alert* actually crying (ok slight welling up of tears not really crying) at the ending.
But the thing is, not only am I not a fan of sentimental type family based comedies in general, I also can't stand Robin Williams in anything else he's done, TV or film. Yet for some reason I love Mrs Doubtfire
so I was wondering if anyone else has a film they shouldn't like but somehow do like?
Leonard part 6, for some reason, I should be banging my head against a pipe, but I found myself laughing the right amount of laughter.
Pontypool (2008)
It's the thinking man's zombie invasion movie and while I don't mind smart entertainment I could never really get into Pontypool. I love that it was made in Canada, and I especially dig the snow setting which gives the movie excellent atmosphere by default. But I found the plot to be, well, kinda silly.
So basically I'm like this  and this  when watching Pontypool.

I'm guessing you didn't watch any of these out choice? maybe you've developed a tolerance of these kind of movies . I haven't actually seen any of them btw
Actually it wasn't such a huge stretch as I had in bachelorhood previously enjoyed Rock Hudson-Doris Day films like:
Pillow Talk
Lover Come Back
Send Me No Flowers
The "Tammy" films including:
Tammy and the Bachelor (starring Debbie Reynolds)
Tammy Tell Me True (now starring Sandra Dee as Tammy)
Tammy and the Doctor
and the Cary Grant, again with Doris Day, film:
That Touch of Mink
And one more featuring Day:
Move, Over Darling
I liked all far more than I expected I would...
Black Narcissus (1947)

That has got to be the best description of a Michael Powell / Emeric Pressburger film I have ever read.
The movie that I should not like (but do) is Richard Attenborough's
Cry Freedom ~ those that know me will know how I feel about anti-SA films made by people such as Attenborough, but I can't help liking this film.
