As you may know Darth & Droids fans and authors watch the Start Wars movies all together to get inspiration (the authors), have fun and chat (everyone). Few days ago they saw A New Hope.
I think it is nice idea, and it is fairly simple to do.
We decide a date, a movie, a IRC channel and one person once in a while synchronize the movie with everyone saying: I am seeing `this and that' please stop if you reach that part of the movie.
What do you think?
We used to do that years ago at horrordvds.com at their IRC channel chat. It was fun but there was always somebody who wasn't happy about the selected movie or didn't own a copy.
However, we did Hellspawn (1993) once and it was a blast!
Not sure how this would work out these days because some people here are located in Europe. Huge time difference.

I shouldn't worry.
Some of us don't sleep.
About the time zone I would go by majority. I would go for 19:30 UTC for example. The same for the movie, but it is less a problem because I think: you do not like the movie? do not watch it.
I'm in South Africa ~ that's about six hours ahead of the USA. Good idea though.

True, but in the end you might be the only one watching. It took us
ages to settle on
one movie without trying to disappoint others.
Setting a date/time was another problem because there will always be people who really really really want - but can't on that date or time, for some reason or the other.
I'm game though
Or you could all just come to my house.
This idea has been suggested maybe half a dozen times in the past, but it never works out. What it needs to succeed is one person willing to be the organizer and do all the work. If you get everything set up, etmoviesb, I'm sure some people will join you. Possibly even me depending on the movie and the time.
I've actaully done this with a few friends from a different forum a few times. Granted, that was 15 people but still it was cool. It is possible but it takes planning as well as hoping that everyone has access to the movie being shown.
I'm game. Just gimme some time to get the movie beforehand.
I see you are concerned that there are only few people, or even that the organizer will watch the movie by itself.
I will surely be annoying, but we watch movies often anyway, don't we? Do you usually watch movies with lots of people?
With all their quirks?
Doggett gets grabby, Indy is a loud eater, Cheezey likes to lift his leg and fart, Allhallowsday wants to play Tom Servo, Andy likes to sneak up form behind and go 'boo', and every time I try to grab one of the girls Andrew hits me with his purse.
What a rowdy crowd to try to control...good luck.

Who's concerned? The only problem I see is there's no organizer yet. If you're volunteering to be organizer, thanks! If you're hoping someone else will volunteer, good luck!

I think AndyC could pull this off.
I know he's busy but he's very bright and could be able to pull this off.
But what film?
I've seen this happen from time to time. I go to some wrestling sites and one guy set up a chat. He usually uploads different movies/Doctor Who/wrestling viewing things. It's fun when we're all 'together' but it falls apart now and then.
Primarily due to me and a few being in United States, and the rest being in Canada and the UK. Might watch WWE Smackdown in there tonight.
I would set one up but don't know how.
The film? These three of course:
Numero 1 (http://www.badmovies.org/movies/evildead/)
Dos (http://www.badmovies.org/movies/evildeadii/)
#3! (http://www.badmovies.org/movies/armydark/)
I'm not sure it'd be possible for me. I have satellite internet because I live in a rural area where high-speed internet isn't even available as of yet so I think my connection would prove too slow for this stuff to work for me although yeah it's a cool idea.
Another thing one could do would be schedule a specific film for people to watch and then give everyone a certain amount of time to catch it and then start an after the viewing discussion on it.
