I've been trying to remember a fairly recent movie that takes place during the Blitz on London in the 1940's.
The film would've been made in the 90's and had high production values.
The only scene I can remember is Londoners outside on the sidewalk sifting through tons of debris when they see a German plane get shot down. The German bails out, parachutes and lands among the people who were going through the rubble. He calmly undoes his chute, takes a seat on some rubble, lights a cigarette and smiles as the police come up to him. They take him prisoner.
Anyone know what movie this is?
Maybe HOPE AND GLORY?

Maybe HOPE AND GLORY?
It was Hope and Glory!
I was a little off on the specifics of the scene (and the year it was made) but was pretty close:
