This is about actors who were so good at playing evil or insane people that you would not want to be alone with them in real life.
I will nominate Klaus Kinski. The man was terrifying onscreen like few other actors could ever dream of and was reportedly not much different in real life. No way I'd have wanted to be alone with the guy for any length of time.

David Gale. Always seemed very menacing and creepy in nearly all his roles, particularly the horror ones (Re-Animator, The Brain). I'm led to believe that he was a lovely guy off-screen, but even when he smiled it just came across as very unsettling.

Brad Dourif

Played a ton of nasty and mentally unstable characters. Looks like he'd just strangle you for no reason when you least expected it.

Hopkins had to have some kind of connection with Lecter to play him so awesomely.
RONDO HATTON:

His physical appearance from acromegaly made him look pretty convincing even if he did no acting at all.

Just watched him in a clip from Creepshow. Even as a totally innocent character scared out of his wits, Gale was creepy.
And if we want to talk about guys with a natural aptitude for playing monsters and mutants without any special makeup, Michael Berryman is one of the best. By all accounts, a really nice guy who is anything but scary in real life, he managed to turn a congenital condition into a career as a memorable character actor. A friend of mine once described Berryman's face as being about as strange as a face could be without being ugly.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the late great Fra....er, Joe Spinell.

Does this guy look familiar?

No?
How about now?

From wikipedia:
Schreck's contemporaries recalled he was a loner with an unusual sense of humor and skill in playing grotesque characters. One reported he lived in "a remote and strange world" and that he spent time walking through dark forests.

He really did play a creepy frickin' vampire. I just looked up Max Schreck and I found it very cool and amusing that his last name is a German term for "to frighten or terrify".
Isn't it also nice that Klaus Kinski played Nosferatu? I'd wager Kinski was more frightening off-screen but they're both interesting individuals.
David Heiss- Has this guy ever played a good guy? I dont think so, he's always playing a character that is so horrible and disgusting that I hope I never meet him cause he scares me

Anthony Perkins in the Psycho trilogy just seemed to get creepier with every instalment.

I'd have to go with Richard Lynch....his "Yeeeeee"-factor is WAY up there, no matter what he's playing.

I just watched Swamp Thing yesterday, for probably the first time since it came out. Of course, there was David Hess playing a sadistic psycho.
Yes, Klaus Kinski was terrifying both onscreen and offscreen. As one example, he gave director Werner Herzog such such a hard time on the location of "Fitzcarraldo." that some of the film extras actually went to Herzog, and told him, that if he ever wanted Kinski killed, they'd bump Kinski off for Herzog.
