Dunno
Because I'm that type of Guy.
Why ask why?
It's just my bag.
Well I would assume it's because you like me.
Its just human nature...
The voices in my head told me to, that's why!
Why? "Why?" is just a story you need to tell yourself after the fact because you were born expecting an explanation.
It all just is.
Well, if I didn't, what the hell do you "think" would happen? :hatred:
I find that most "why" questions are easily addressed with Hume's Law, or the philosophical is/ought problem. By first establishing the "is," most dilemmas allow for an "ought" consideration to be derived from them. If not, then the why is answered.
Example: Why is Flick James so devastatingly handsome?
In this case, the "is" is self-evident. Because he just is. There is no "ought" or "ought not" applicable, and so the resolution is simple.
However, a slightly more complicated "why" that from which an "ought" could be derived would be:
Why doesn't Flick James ever post pictures of himself on badmovies.org?
The "is" in this case would be "because he is so devastatingly handsome."
An "ought" is immediately derived in the form of "Flick James 'ought' to post a picture or 'ought not' post one. In the "ought" scenario, the justification is, if he is so handsome he should post a picture so everyone can benefit from gazing at his sublime countenance. However, the likelihood of what would really happne would support the "ought not," because by posting a picture it would cause envy and resentment amongst the male members and excitement and possible fainting amongst the female members. I value my online friends at badmovies.org so much that I will not create such drama, and also because female members are a distinct minority, I would not like them to injure themselves upon fainting. And so Hume's is/ought easily satisfies the "why's" of these two examples, as it does most.
The above examples are merely hypotheticals, of course.
Its how I roll
