So, I live at home with my mom. Today, she ran to the bank today as I got ready for work. I was in the shower, get out, and there's three messages on the home machine. I never check the home machine, but knew the landlord was stopping by, and checked to see if he called.
Long story short, she got to the bank and before even tapping the MAC machine, gets hit by a car in a hit and run. Looks like she broke and/or sprained her tailbone. Leg looks broken too. They gave her a bunch of painmeds.
I got off today after explaining the situation to my boss. Am home, she's sleeping, took a bunch of pain meds. Never had my heart drop in my stomach like I did today.
Wow. I hope your mom recovers soon. And I hope they catch whoever did this.
Quick recovery to your mom.
So sorry to hear about your mom's accident. Hope she has a speedy recovery. And hope the creep that caused it is caught quickly.
She hates hospitals and wants to leave. Based upon her injuries as of now, she's guaranteed at least 24-48 hours. She tried checking herself out, but she recently got insurance, and we told her if she checks out against hospital advice she's required to pay the full bill.
She's calmed down a bit, took a bunch of Percocets, and has been sleeping. I'm home. She's there til at least 4pm tomorrow, maybe early Friday.
As of now, fortunately no internal injuries. Just her shinbone and coccyx bone. Hopefully with the pain meds and such, that'll heal soon enough. Just gotta figure out my work schedule. I can't not go to work. Losing today won't kill me finacially, but can't lose more than today.
So sorry to hear that. Best wishes to your mom.
I hate to hear that. I hope your mom recovers quickly.
My wife's mom, a small, frail 83 year old, was in a head on collision at 60 mph Monday . . . . and walked away with only a fractured rib. I think she is pure titanium beneath all the wrinkled old lady skin!!!!
Wishing your mom the best and sorry to hear it was a hit and run. Detest the thought with a passion.
Thanks, all. So far, looking much better than initially expected. So far, nothing internal's happened, no concussion. Some swelling on and around her tailbone area, some knee issues. They did more x-rays and such, potential surgery on her leg though. She can go back for that down the line.

Wow, only a fractured rib? Sorry to hear about that collision, but thankfully it was just a fractured rib.
Wow. I hope your mother has a speedy recovery.
Best wishes to your Mom for a quick recovery.
Warm wishes and big hugs to your Mom, HG. Hope all goes well for her: keep us informed.
Your mom is a very lucky lady, both in the respect that the accident could have been much, much worse and that she has people who care enough about her to get her to take the hospital's advice.
I hope she's back on her feet soon and that they catch whoever hit her.
So glad it wasn't worse and that she's on the mend. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Dude, here's hoping the best for yer mom. Stinks to high heaven.
Thank goodness she wasn't hurt any worse....and that her recovery is quick. As for that putz who hit her, well,I certainly hope they catch the person.
(((HUGS!!!)))
So, she'll be home tonight.
I did find out a friend of mine passed away last night, though.

Sad to hear, Happy. Hoping your friend passed peacefully and wishing you the best after losing a friend. Is never good to lose someone especially a friend or relative.

Sadly, I found out after posting this that my friend's death was ultimately her own doing. She accidentally overdosed on some drugs. The thing is, I talked to her the day she passed. Found out she started using again, and asked if I could help her with anything, knowing she's just gotten out of rehab. I've struggled with addiction over the years and learned if someone reaches out, take it. Shame. She was only 21.

Sad to hear, very unfortunate way to go. Wishing you the best, want to say more but words are eluding me at the moment. Hoping that we don't hear of a similar fate for yourself or that if you are in the situation again you are able to intervene and the same result doesn't happen again. Hoping she (your friend) is in a better place. Not sure if you are religious. I'm not deeply myself. However, I like to think we all see something in the end that makes this time we spent here not a one shot and that things continue in one form or another.
I've used with this girl in the past. I've been trying to sober up lately. She called me this week, to party. I declined, said I wasn't down to do that and wanted to get my head straight. I asked her if she relapsed, since she was in rehab lately. Wished her the best, and she passed the next day or so.
Wisened me up. Someone that close going for stuff I used to like to do. I'm going to the funeral Tuesday.
All my love to your Ma ,Happy. I hope she'll be ok.

So, mom's home. Been sleeping a lot, due to the medication. She's got a physical therapist checking in, making sure she can walk and such, has an appointment at the hospital this week to go over the x-rays and such, check on her bones. Got a hold of the lady who ran her over, and a lawyer. As of now, I don't think she's gonna sue, but the lawyer's going over everything, just in case. Precautionary. Figured it's not worth it, cause she'd likely only get $5,000, but after taxes and lawyer fees it wouldn't equate to much. Although, she is quite cranky lately.
As for the funeral tomorrow, ah. I don't quite know if I can go. I've been to far too many funerals for someone who's only 27. Another one on my list. I should at least stop by the church and such, to talk to my friend's sister. Feel badly for her parents. I couldn't imagine losing a kid. Then again, she made her decisions. It smartened me up, hopefully her other friends stop using as well.
