Title: DAMNED IN VENICE (1978)
Post by: The Burgomaster on December 13, 2011, 05:39:57 PM
Yeah, it borrows heavily from ROSEMARY'S BABY and THE OMEN, and it isn't a great film, but I liked it.  And it has music by Pino Donaggio.

The story involves a blind boy who has visions of a man with a cane murdering people.  His older sister becomes pregnant, but claims she's a virgin.  Her boyfriend marries her even though he knows he's not the father because they've never had sex together.

This movie is carefully assembled and doesn't try to be overly exploitative.  In fact, a lot of people would probably say it has too much talking and not enough horror.  But I thought it was fairly interesting.  And it does have a few shocking moments including:

* A priest being decapitated by a boat propeller
* A baby being impaled on iron spikes

The copy I have is a sharp, widescreen print in Italian with English subtitles.  Worth watching if you ever get the chance, but I wouldn't recommend that you rush to see it.  It isn't that good.
