George Lucas declares he is through making blockbusters:

I'm skeptical, but if it keeps him from from tinkering any more with Star Wars & Indy, it's fine by me.

Y'know, I might even have access to the
NYTimes website, but if I do, I don't know it.

Someone asked me last year what I would say to George Lucas if I ever met him and my reply was: "I would tell him: PLEASE stop buggering around with my childhood!"
I think the rest of the world declared that Lucas was through making blockbusters.
I love the Star Wars universe, but it moved beyond Lucas a long time ago. These days, his touch is almost equivalent to poison.
George is a good idea guy but has hardly a skill at telling a story. Or dialog for that matter.
Ever notice how George does possible subtle "F-You's" to the complainers. I can't prove it but he really did it with Jar Jar. People hated him. Then the galaxy somewhat left him in charge while the Clone Wars were happening. Hence Jar Jar kind of led to the Empire. People hated Darth Vader saying "noooooooo" he added it in during ROTJ. Thank you George but you're a bit of a d**k.

I actually really like
Attack of the Clones. One of the story bits I like was that Jar-Jar was instrumental in setting up the new Empire. Setting up this most hated character for all the horribleness that is to follow was enjoyable for me.
In the sobering light of day, you might ask yourself why it is at all reasonable that he would be there at all. It's not reasonable. That one moment that could be enjoyed must be factored into bad ideas Lucas has had.
Midichlorians, dude.
I noticed that,too,George.....all the messing about you've been doing with Star Wars doesn't really count as film making.

Yeah, leaving Jar Jar to keep watch on things is kinda like leaving a two year old to watch over dinner. Its not going to work.
