Hello, Back again with another mystery movie. Several years ago I caught the last minute of a movie which contained a final scene of a spaceship flying over a town (leaving town). All you could see was the bottom of the ship which was flat and contained a lot of greebles and was, I think, bronze in color. I'm pretty sure there was some cool music playing too. It looked like a late 80s or early 90s movie.
I wasn't able to get any other info because it was one of those deals when they run the credits real fast , in a compressed window no less, so that they can get to the next movie. I hate when they do that.Anyway, any help identifying this movie is appreciated.
Thats a tough one... It seems like a typical ending with most UFO/ visiting alien movies...
here's a shot in the dark,
maybe one of the "Critters" movies?
Yeah, there are a lot of movies that seem to end like that but this one just seemed so stylish that it makes me think the rest of the movie might be good too.
I 'll have to check out the endings of the Critters movies. I know it's not the first one.
There are couple of other details that might help : 1) It took place at night 2) The spaceship is huge and is flying off toward the upper right side of the screen.
Thanks for the responses. I would have replied earlier but I got busy and forgot to check back.

I don't know if it was night or not, but
Starman maybe?
Great movie but Starman definitely isn't it. The ship I remember was flat on the bottom and square edged.

It was a stab. I just figured since you saw just the very ending and Starman ends with the ship leaving and that's it, I thought it was worth a shot.
Thanks for the help anyway. I just wish I was able to provide a better description... I literally saw just the last couple seconds of the movie.
I actually thought the movie I was looking for was Neon Maniacs because they flashed that on the screen as this was ending, but I watched Neon Maniacs before I came here and that didn't have any spaceships in it. It seemed like it was a double feature they ran on tv a couple of years ago.
I thought it might be one of the critters movies as well.
Here is the ending from the first Critters - However it's not at night.

The only other Critters ending that involves a spaceship is Critters 4

Definitely not those two. However, I have been looking, unsuccessfully, to find the endings of Critters 2 and 3 without having to order through Netflix. If anyone has those dvds and is willing to check out the ending I'd appreciate it.
Neither Critters 2 or Critters 3 ends with a space ship flying away. :teddyr:
Well I guess that solves that problem. Thanks. I guess the mystery continues for now.
The only thing that comes to my mind is The Tommyknockers.
So far I haven't been able to find any pictures of the Tommyknockers spaceship to verify.

The spaceship explodes, however.
Good catch on finding that spaceship scene, thanks. Unfortunately, that's not it. A couple more details that might help : The ship was large enough to fill the upper portion of the tv screen and the ship was moving slowly, almost just drifting, from the left to the right side of the screen.
I'm also pretty sure there were street lights and some trees in the foreground and it was a suburban setting. I really wish they wouldn't roll the credits so fast so that I could at least get some more info.
Just from reading your first post I believe it might be the movie Laserblast from 1978. Hope this helps.
Though a number of movies have alternate endings the only one I'm aware of for Laserblast takes place during the day and the ship isn't very big. Thanks though.
The ship I remember is huge. I would say along the lines of the Destiny from Stargate Universe.
Tough one ... in case it's a European production, it could be 1981s "La Soupe aux Choux", one of Louis de Funis final films, where the aliens carry off part of a French countryside hamlet. Again, I would love to post a youtube link to the soundtrack (which, like the film, was absolutely cool – can only recommend it), but the site won't allow me.
Trees and lights. Might be the space ship ending of INVADERS FROM MARS (86 version).
Possibly Strange Invaders (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strange_Invaders)?

I can't remember if the finale involved an actual spaceship, but it definitely had extraterrestrials in a suburban setting.
Sorry I haven't replied in so long; I've been real busy and kind of gave up hope this one would be solved. Unfortunately, it's not any of the films mentioned and I did see all of them, except for the French one -which looks interesting.
I really do think it may have been an alternate ending that many haven't seen, otherwise the film buffs here probably would have identified it right away. Thanks for the responses though.
The only thing I can think of is Target Earth from 1998

Not sure if the OP will be back but came across a possible solution: THE ALIENS ARE COMING (80) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0080348/ (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0080348/)
could be" Escape from witch mountain" (the original movie)
The final shot of the director's cut of NIGHT OF THE CREEPS matches the following criteria: underside of a flat(ish) UFO in the upper right-hand corner of the screen, in a suburban setting/small town, and after this shot the credits roll to some EXTREMELY cool music ("The Stroll" performed by The Diamonds). The major bit that doesn't match is that the UFO isn't leaving... it's hovering in the shot and beaming a searchlight or laser beam on to the ground. In the event that the original poster ever makes it back and sees this, please check out the Special Edition DVD or Blu-Ray of NOTC to see this (incredible) ending (or maybe it's on Youtube). It WAS the ending that played on TV in the late 80s and into the 90s, but for some foolish reason these awesome final 2-3 minutes were replaced with a truncated/abrupt jump scare ending on the early VHS versions (and maybe early DVDs as well). Well-worth checking out the uncut and complete finale, which is 1 billion times cooler!
Could it be this vehicle from EVILS OF THE NIGHT(1985)?

The person who asked was last active 9 years ago. I'll move this and some of the older ones to the little-used "Unsolved Archives" section.
