How did I miss this news? It looks like Tokyo Shock will be releasing "Godzilla vs. Megalon" this year. I've been waiting for it on DVD for a long time, because my only copy is a poor VHS that I recorded off of cable. Any release by Tokyo Shock is sure to be a huge upgrade in terms of quality.
Haven't watched the movie in years, but it is a total cheese-fest.
That was about the second Godzilla movie I ever saw. I think I talked my folks into taking me to see it in the theater - I would have been 9 at the time. I thought Megalon was the coolest thing I'd ever seen! :bouncegiggle:
I sort-of have it on DVD. I was quick enough to buy it in the MST3K box set before Toho had them recalled.
 Cool news! Tokyo Shock did a great job with the previous releases.
Watched this today and accidentally found an easter egg. You have to go to the extras menu and right click until you highlight Godzilla's face. It starts with some silly dubbing then shows a half hour of VHS quality trailers. I really dug the YOG FROM OUTER SPACE one.
(kinda apropos for this time of year)

'You're a robot made by humans, but
Jet Jaguar, Jet Jaguar,
You did it, Jet Jaguar
Go, go to protect peace
We are all surprised at the courage you show
Godzilla and Jaguar punch, punch, punch
Don't cry, let's do our best'

Yeah, and Sony is coming out with double feature Blu's of the Heisei series.
QuoteWith a new Godzilla movie hitting theaters in May, now is the perfect time for Blu-ray releases of the classic movies. Thankfully, many distributors have already announced plans and we can now add Sony to the list. They recently revealed that they will release eight Godzilla movies from the 90′s as double feature Blu-rays.
In celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the iconic franchise, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will debut eight classic Godzilla movies on Blu-ray for the first time on May 6th. Titles include: Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah (1991) + Godzilla and Mothra: The Battle for Earth (1992); Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II (1993) + Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla (1994); Godzilla vs. Destoroyah (1995) + Godzilla vs. Megaguirus (2000); and Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S. (2003) + Godzilla: Final Wars (2004). Bonus features are said to include original theatrical trailers, along with a Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S making-of featurette, and a Godzilla: Final Wars behind-the-scenes featurette.
I'm really pumped about the the new Godzilla flick. Looks like they're portraying him in a dead serious manner.
But still no word on "Godzilla 1985" coming to DVD. **Sigh**
Yeah still waiting on that one...haven't seen it in ages....Didn't it have a lot of sponsorship tie-ins at the time?

I took a date to this movie. She fell asleep, but woke up during one of Godzilla's raids on the city. She said, "If he attacks the building they are in, and they go to the elevator to escape, we leave. Deal?" I said, "Okay." Needless to say, we ended up leaving.
