post stuff you just don't care about, just not politics (I really don't like it when politics are involved) anyway, here's mine
I don't care about country music because, to me, it's all...boring, that being said, I do live in the birth place of jazz, so it is sorta biased.
I also don't care about First Person Shooter games (FPS) because, to me, their all the same style of game play. now third person game play, I'm in! :teddyr:
Rap music. Professional wrestling. And Nascar. Meh to all three.
I don't care for TV. They feed you lies and manipulate your mind all for the mighty dollar (commercials). Movies are edited, and they bombast you with garbage reality shows.
Rap "music" and professional wrestling. Though I do watch a bit of Nascar out of sheer boredom sometimes. Basketball and baseball - if you ever see me watching either of those sports on TV, please call an ambulance as I've apparently lapsed into a coma.
Hollywood movies, Hollywood celebrities, reality TV, prime-time game shows. Emmy Awards, Golden Globe awards, Oscars, Grammys, Golden Globe awards, etc. etc. ad nauseam.
First person shooter games - got bored with those back in the PS2 era. Speculation on what the next generation of video game consoles will be like and when they'll be coming out. Smart phones, iPods, anything with an "i" in front of it.
Things I personally don't care for:
Rap music
Reality tv shows
Flo from the Progressive commercials
Beer
Stuck up snobs
People who are mean for no reason
Seinfeld
Sean Penn
The remake of True Grit
NASCAR
MOST OF TV
MOST OF CURRENT MUSIC
RAP, WHICH IS NOT MUSIC
Howard Stern and most shock jocks.
People who call themselves Christians while hating on other people. (I have done that too, by the way, and don't care for that part of myself and my history.)
Most television.
The NBA and its generally prima donna mentality. Ditto the NFL.
Women's pro tennis.
Mafia. Wars!
Crap music.
Drug dealers.
Fox network (for cancelling Firefly, damn them) and most doubly for Fox "news."
People complaining online about the Twilight books/movies. So you don't like "clean" romance novels based on sparkly veggie vamps. All right, we get it. You're not incredibly smart just for hating Twilight. Now take it outside!
Pointlessly foul-mouthed characters. All right, so maybe the villain has to swear once in a while just to remind us what an unlikeable person he is. Maybe you thought the anti-hero would look too heroic if he spoke too cleanly. Maybe the hero is having his worst day ever and just had to let one out. Fine. Could you spare us the flurry of F-bombs, blasphemies, and obscenity? It's not "cute" when kids swear, a foul mouth makes even the prettiest woman look ugly, and a guy does not look tougher for losing control of his language. If we must have nasty talk, keep it down to the precision F-strike (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/PrecisionFStrike). Give us a narrative profanity filter (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/NarrativeProfanityFilter) or the like if you want to play it for laughs. Don't weary my ears trying to show off how verbally disgusting you can be.
Celebrity. If people are really talented at acting or singing or dancing or sports or playing a musical instrument, they've earned their pay and certainly should be invited to perform again. If they want the adoration of the crowd for their performance, fine. However, their art and skill does not entitle them to be anyone's role model. They are not entitled to tell me how to vote, what to eat, what to wear, how to raise my kids, what to believe, or anything about anything in life that truly matters. In reciprocity, I am likewise not entitled to hear every detail about what drugs they've been abusing, their tangled and scandalous sex lives, or what crazy cult or fad therapy they're currently trying as they descend mentally, physically, and spiritually into total ruin. Their biggest fans (later to be their greatest haters once they inevitably tumble from their pedestals) are also not entitled to any attention or interest from me whatsoever.
I don't care for Twilight, nor their haters. It's pointless and stupid at the same time.
i don't care much for peanut butter, nor ketchup, nor mustard. i just really don't like the taste of either of them, the same for fries/tater tots/potatoes.

It's a good point. At some point complaining about things becomes more annoying than the nonsense that sparked the original complaint. TWLIGHT hate has jumped the shark, IMO. It's a fad, just let the series die a natural death already.
I don't care for persons claiming RAP is not music. Music is not so highbrow that anyone would be disallowed participation in any form.
I don't care for most fish dishes unless it's broiled or fried; anything with sauce or the head on it - yech.
While I am on the "don't like rap" bandwagon, I also have never cared for Whitney Houston-style soul music (I know, I know, too soon). I admit freely that she was a talented vocalist, but all the vocal shenanigans always grated on me. I know that doing the things she could do takes immense voice control, but it just seemed like showing off to me; it wasn't melodious to my ear. And the imitators who can't actually approach her technique but think they can--Ugh.
I also don't care for pickles, except in tartar sauce. Or any citrus. Or threads that don't let me talk about politics. :tongueout:
I don't like watching golf, tennis, curling, poker, NASCAR or any racing, horse racing, baseball, football, basketball, soccer.
I don't like most reality TV shows, game shows although there are exceptions.
I don't like big banks and big corporations and how they manipulate us all with money that doesn't even really exist physically.
I don't like criminals who choose that life but I also don't like when laws are manipulated to control unions and working class people (sorry if that's a little political). I don't like when people dictate to me and tell me what to do, what to think, what to believe.
I agree with you guys on rap, though I do like little rap (artist such as Tech N9ne, Lupe Fiasco, CeeLo-Green, some Hospin) other than those 4, I don't listen to rap.
I don't care for Party Rock Anthem because of the overplay. Actually, if it wasn't for the overplay, I could say it is a guilty pleasure.
I don't care for sports, esp. Golf (what? It's an old farts game! :tongueout:)
I also don't care for Glam metal for one reason- Everytime I tried to listen to it, I just...got bored of it. Trust me, I tried to listen to Motley Crue, Kiss, Poison, Def Leopard, the whole shebang. It's just that I can't listen to a whole song through and not be bored by it.
Radio DJs that insist on having lengthy "shows". Look, I don't care what weird guests you have, what C-grade celebrities you know, what your thoughts are on some off beat new story, or anything like that. Just shut up and play some friggin' music already!
I don't care for the thread(s) in my underpants. :tongueout: :buggedout:
most current TV shows, NBA, NASCAR
I can't stand AMERICAN IDLE,or those dance shows (what kinda job will you get as a dancer? I mean-short of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers...what? A back up dancer for Lady Gag Gag?),reality shows, most popular music nowadays is very generic, liverwurst, polka music, political ads on tv, calamari, tripe, oysters or clams. And okra-a slimy food if there ever was one.

I agree. I don't like most rap simply because, well, I guess I don't get most of it. Big mystery, I'm a 44-year-old white guy. Go figure. But I don't hate it. I consider it like any other form of music. Even with styles I don't get into, I can usually find some artist within the form whose work I like or appreciate in some way. I don't like most rap, yet I do like Deltron 3030 and some stuff Outkast does, and I'm sure if I put my mind to it I could find other examples. I also don't care for most of what passes for country music these days, but I do find exceptions.
So I guess I don't care for the notion that a singular form or style of music is impossible to appreciate on some level, or is "not music."

I third this motion. I'm a firm follower of "beauty is in the eye of the beholder." Yes, I rip on Justin Bieber, Twilight and other easy targets, simply because they're easy targets. At the end of it all, if somebody finds some beauty, enjoyment, or meaning in any form of entertainment or media, whether they are the artist or audience, than it is art. I'm not into rap or most country among other things, but they are still music.

Odds are whoever started that was dead from a gunshot wound or a crack overdose a long time ago.
Sagging pants was started in the inner city. Belts were prohibited in prison, and so sagging pants was adopted as a sort of badge of honor amongst gangs. Essentially, if your pants sagged, it meant you had been to prison and were therefore a tough guy. Because of the chic of the rapper with the tough inner-city background, it started showing up as early as the late 80's ala groups like N.W.A. I grew up in Los Angeles and I remember being aware of this emerging trend before it became mainstream. I remember starting to see it on MTV around 1990 or so and thinking "Oh dear, now it's hitting the big time." Around that time the wave of "South Central" movies started hitting,
Boyz in the Hood,
Menace II Society, etc., and that was it. Gang chic, including sagging pants, became what I thought was going to be a passing fad but here, over 30 years later, it's still being adopted.
Sigh.

AHD- After reading your post, I realized that I was in error. There is some rap I enjoy, particularly Will Smith and others of the earlier days of the genre.
The thing is, when I think of rap today, what comes to mind is the negative, hateful, mysogynistic anti-life roil that comes blasting out of people's sound systems. Also, to be accurate, I don't consider death or satanic metal to be music, either.
With both, I want to approach the individual, and say, "Okay.....you're angry, you hate this, you hate that....what else can you do?"

I hear ya. I took it that AHD was just kind of making a general point. I hear you about the death metal thing too. When I was in high school I liked hardcore music like that, I think because I just liked aggressive music and it served as a form of catharsis for me. I still listen to some hard music from time to time just for that little release that it gives me. To a certain extent I think it can be healthy, but when it becomes the focal point of what you do, it is kind of like you say, "what else can you do?"

I've never watched Extreme Makeover, but I did catch an episode of The Biggest Loser once. It's not my cup of tea, but I can see how the show can be inspirational to some degree, at least moreso than most reality shows. I'm still not a fan of the show, but I have less of a problem with Biggest Loser than most other reality shows.

Big issue I have is the way it encourages pure poundage dropping, doesn't consider body fat percentage much, and encourages dehydration before weigh ins. They do monitor them fairly frequently, but I expect with the large cash awards some day someone's going to have a cardiac episode.
I also think the way they kick people out is a bad idea if they want to actually help the morbidly obese. The feeling of failure can't be good, even though apparently they still do try to help them out after they've left the show.
Still, there are worse reality shows, and a good chunk of the people on that show apparently do keep the weight off... I gather it's something like 50% within the next year or two, which is actually really high.

I don't know much about the show. I just saw one episode and it seemed like it would be fairly inspirational, if a little exploitative.
I can't stand people who peddle fake stuff on EBay.
Last week I nearly bought a 4 1/2" Dovetail spearhead for $350 that the guy said came from his Dad's collection, found sometime between 1935 and 1985. Turns out he bought the same point from a modern flintknapper less than a month ago, as a reproduction, for $22! And when I reported the fraud to EBay, he simply moves the same piece over to Amazon and tries to sell it there - as being an estate sale find!
JERK!! :hatred:

The same thing happens on eBay with traditional instruments. A decent wooden Irish flute that actually has proper intonation and playability cannot be bought realistically for less than $400, yet there are plenty of cheap knockoff flutes sold on eBay to naive people looking to get into the music for $200. I can't count the number of people I've come across who have bought one of those travesties and regretted it. Same thing with bagpipes. There are cheap Pakistani ripoffs sold for about half of what the real thing costs, people buy them, and they are utter crap.
I don't care for people who "politely" let me out at intersections. This usually means they are coming down the road, slow down, and stop in the middle of the road to let me out. Not only are they are blocking other traffic for my sake (which makes me feel like a jerk), it usually means I actually wait longer for them to slow down, stop, and wave me out than I would have waited for them to just drive on past in the first place.
Same goes for people who don't take the right-of-way at stops. You are NOT being polite by just sitting there and waiting for me to go. I'm sitting there waiting for YOU to go because you have the right of way. I will end up waiting longer than if you had just gone when you were supposed to.
Never cared for what they do
Never cared for what they know

I'm with you, also, hate those people who use their disabled 'tagged' relatives car, to get a the spot.
