Damn you Michael Bay!

Luckily, there is currently a new ongoing TMNT comic. Everyone go get that for any new Turtle fix you may have.
I was extremely excited for this project, despite Bay's involvement.
This put the nail in that coffin.
The movie will fail.
I don't hate Michael Bay. I think he's a complete hack, but I don't hate them. He is very good at making high-gloss garbage.
I am befuddled as to why he keeps recreating name brands with a tone-deaf ear that misunderstands everything that people love about them. Actually, I'm not confused on that point, he's in it for the money.
This is probably the most egregious example. Why remake Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and have the stars be neither teenage, mutant, ninjas, or turtles? Doesn't make sense.
Remember that Doom movie? That wasn't a Michael Bay film, but Doom is a pretty simple concept. Demons from Hell in space. And yet they still managed to f**k that up. Question is how? How do you take pretty much the simplest concept imaginable and not deliver?
You can't even fall back on money for that answer. Befuddling.
I want to clarify, I don't hate Bay. He made one film I like, though the title escapes me.
He makes money for Hollywood.
But, the TMNT has a HUGE audience, and people who aren't even fans are vaguely familiar with the backstory: 4 turtles lost in a sewer get covered in mutagen and, through that, their intelligence grows and learn martial arts and help the citizens of New York. Hell, it's called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Not Adult Alien Amphibiens with Guns from another universe...
If they expect box office records, they'll get them, as fans will avoid it at all costs.
Oh,brother! I think this would ruin the entire concept of our beloved Turtles.
I want to clarify, I hate Michael Bay.
I can't entirely hate Bay.
He did direct the Rock. Though I think my enjoyment of that film is largely in spite of him rather than because of him. I also enjoy his other stupid movies, but they are just that... Stupid.
We shouldn't expect him to give much respect or care to TMNT. I mean, he IS the guy who turned a show about alien space robots into a movie about a whiny teenager trying to get laid.
Michael Bay can screw up a free lunch. He's the new George Lucas.

The NC's opinion, which I agree with.

Now now, he has yet returned to any previous movies and start editing them with new, smelly crap. Once he does that, then he is George Lucas!
Michael Bay will never get my $15 for a ticket.
I'm a huge TMNT fan and frankly, I think more fans are out there that're mad about this.
It's unnecessary.

One right here: I think and I hope this was an April Fool's Day joke on Michael Bay's part. I did notice that Jonathan Liebesman ~ South African born ~ will be directing it: it will probably then be called TIENER ONDING NINJA SKILPAAIE ~ TMNT in Afrikaans.
Be that as it may, I will not pay money to see this, no matter who is directing it or which chop wrote the script.

Scratch that. $10 a ticket...if a normal movie. If it's 3D or Imax, higher.
I live in Philly.

Mr Bay tends to have that effect on people. :teddyr:
