I started my book tonight. I've had the story rattling around in my head for awhile, and I decided to start putting words down tonight. Just the title page, prologue, and a couple of pages of the first chapter - but it's going to be awesome! LOL! At least, it feels awesome to be writing again!
That's fantastic. My wife and I have made a committment to write one of our screenplay ideas this year, but between two young boys and a miserable pregnancy it has been a challenge. It is nice to be writing, though.
The first word is the hardest. After that, they just kinda flow.
The night was...
Sultry!

Oh, Menard, you'll never grow up! (Thank goodness!)
Came home today and thrashed out five more pages. I've introduced two main characters, about to bring in the third . . . gorgeous Italian archeologist Isabella Sforza.
A thrashing threesome with a gorgeous Italian? Yeehaw! That's my kind of novel! :teddyr:

The two main characters are vampire Hitler and his plucky teen sidekick, right? Come on, you can level with us.
Er . . . no. :buggedout:
Oh, a novel. I thought this was about a grisly shooting spree or coming out or something. Good for you.

Uh,oh....Alan's gonna want to read that for sure. :teddyr:
Finished Chapter One, now about two pages into Chapter Two and sixteen pages overall.
What has the earthquake on the Island of Capri revealed???? :teddyr:
I think the earthquake shifted the ground around just enough to reveal the ruins of an ancient - possibly alien!!! - civilization :teddyr:

I'm always great at starting 'My' book, and I have thousands of a great stories, but, never seem to finish? Good Luck. :teddyr:
Finished Chapter 2 tonight, and got about three pages into Chapter 3. 30 pages total so far.
Will the amiable police chief in Capri village be able to keep secret the shocking discovery made at the Villa Jovis?
And will American archeologist Josh Parker drop his work at Ephesus to come assist in studying this exciting discovery?
The tension is building!!!!!
But how do you verify a 2,000 year old autograph, anyway?

Ask Larry King? :teddyr:
Congratulations Indy. Can I play the amiable Capri police chief when it becomes a movie, or do you have some no talent like Benicio del Toro in mind?
Level with us Indy, this is based on your life as an Archaeologist Super Spy right?

They analyze the ink and find that the pigment was made from the bark of a tree that went extinct 1,999 years ago of course :teddyr:

In the next chapter, they jump in their time machine and the rest of the book is about accidentally rewriting the past and other wacky time travel shenanigans!
Mmmm . . . no. But I do see a car bomb coming up!

Leonardo DaVinci arranged for a bomb to be put in their car? Wow. He really was ahead of his time!
Car bomb. I take it this takes place in the middle east? And he discovered an ancient staute of the Ayatolla Pazuzu?
You took out that flaming rooster? :tongueout:
Five and half months, 240 pages, and still going strong! I think the finished work is going to run around 400 pages, so I am over halfway done. It has been incredibly fun. I begin to think it may even have commercial possibilities! My goal now is to be finished by Christmas, and shopping for publishers in the spring.

Do you have room for a middle aged, semi-negro, NorthCoast rock-and-roller type character? Perhaps as President?
I don't think I have ever heard anyone use the term "semi-Negro" before!!!!! :buggedout:

Congratulations! You're nearly done. If you have fun with it, who wouldn't?  Now comes the best part.
Seven and a half months of work, and tonight I crossed the 400 page mark!
I have a chapter and a half to go, and a short epilogue.
I have never completed anything of this magnitude before. I look back over what I have written, tightening up this sentence and adding a word to round out that one, and I find myself thinking - did I REALLY do all this?
I am hoping to be completely finished before I come back to work from Thanksgiving break.
But what about the talking pie sidekick?
ONE MORE CHAPTER TO GO!!!!!!!!!!! :bouncegiggle: :buggedout:
