Happened a few hours south of where I live this weekend. It sounds as if the father will not face any charges, and I don't think he should - any good dad would have done pretty much the same.
I agree. Anyone in that situation would consumed by rage and would not stand by and let it continue. I doubt the kind of person that can do such things would be missed by many and now he's not clogging up a jail cell until release and won't have the chance to possibly re-offend.
Good for Dad! What is wrong with a creep that would get off on a 4 year old.....sick jerk! I'm sure he will feel remorse because he's a caring person...that pervert wasn't.

Many years ago, my father and I were having a discussion, what about I don't recall, but I do remember proclaiming: "Adolf Hitler was SICK!!" To which my father wisely stated: "If he was sick, then he wasn't responsible for his actions..." I've never forgotten those words. Food for thought. This rapist may have been evil, but if he was "sick" he wasn't responsible...
Personally, I'd have killed the rat too.
One of my long-held tenets is that, while we can't help what we desire to do, we CAN help what we CHOOSE to do.
Based on what has been written about the incident, bringing any sort of charges against the father would be an injustice.
Fritz Lang's "M" is a great movie that seems horribly appropriate here. It looks at a person with a mental illness and who is a threat to society, and then it looks at it from society's side with the need to be protected. The film also explores our need for vengeance and revenge as part of the healing process for loss.

I often try to separate my subjective feelings from my objective opinion. This post illustrates how difficult that can be. Like I wrote, I would want to KILL anyone abusing a child in my presence. If that's wrong, then I don't want to be right.

Thank you...I appreciate that. Your Father was truly a wise man.
You don't put a mad, rabid dog in a cage. You shoot it.
Some people should die-that's just common knowledge.
The real shame here is that there are two victims, a traumatized little girl and a man of conscience who has to live with perpetrating an act of rage that took a human life.
