So I was watching Angel (1984) today and noticed in several scenes two marquees advertising for Return of the Jedi (1983) and Blue Thunder (1983).
Batman Returns (1992) can be seen on a marquee in The Double 0 Kid (1992).
Did you spot any recently?
When the BLOB (1958) attacks the movie theater-they're playing DAUGHTER OF HORROR ( 1955 ,aka DEMENTIA)...and oddly enough-Bela Lugosi? Couldnt be for a personal live apperance, which Bela did many until his death-because in 1958-he was dead. Hmmm...

In ATTACK OF THE PUPPET PEOPLE (1958, AIP) the drive-in marquee and the screen are showing THE AMAZING COLOSSAL MAN (1957, AIP).
I did notice a large advertisement for Hammer's "The Mummy" in "Gorgo" 1960.
"Fletch" and "Dr. Detroit" double feature in the Thriller Honeymoon (1985).
In 1983's boys in prison film "Bad Boys" you can see not only Halloween 2 on the marquee board but also get a brief glimpse of Jamie Lee Curtis in a wig. The reason being that director Rick Rosenthal got his directing start with Halloween 2 and was paying homage to his debut.
Rambo movie poster in Twins (1988) :twirl:
A scene in The Demon shows a cinema marquee advertising The Amityville Horror. :teddyr:
In Dirty Harry, the cinema marquee is advertising Play Misty For Me. :teddyr:
In The Naked Gun, Leslie Nielsen and Priscilla Presley go to the movies and come out of the cinema laughing: the camera then pulls back to show the marquee of what they've been watching: PLATOON! :buggedout: :teddyr:
In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, my buddy Raphael goes to see Critters (the poster is shown) and comes out of the cinema saying "Where'd they come up with this stuff?" :teddyr:
In In The Mouth Of Madness, Sam Neill goes into a cinema showing the film we are watching and the marquee is clearly shown. :teddyr:
I'm sure that there is a cinema marquee in Gremlins showing the films A Boy's Life and Watch The Skies. :teddyr:
In The Soldier, Ken Wahl takes down a criminal in an exercise and the cinema behind the criminal is advertising An Eye For An Eye with Chuck Norris.
In Renny Harlin's Mindhunters, the cinema marquee in the tactical training village is advertising The Third Man. :teddyr:

It's not exactly a movie theater but in 2003's "Daredevil" the marquee outside of the arena where Matt (Daredevil) Murdock's prizefighter father has his final bout touts it as a match between "Jack Murdock and John Romita." John Romita was a long time Marvel Comics artist best known for his work on Spider-Man and Daredevil in the 1960s.

Those were working titles for E.T. and CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND, respectively.
In BACK TO THE FUTURE III, the drive-in marquee has REVENGE OF THE CREATURE and TARANTULA billled, both films having in their casts a (very) young Clint Eastwood; Marty McFly borrowed the actor's name when he traveled into the 19th Century.
In GOODBYE COLUMBUS, RICHARD BENJAMIN and ALI MacGRAW go to see a movie - THE ODD COUPLE is on the marquee - the TV show in which JACK KLUGMAN (who plays her father in the film) would star in a year later. BENJAMIN's character also has the surname "Klugman".
Surprisingly, or maybe not, how many of these are in-jokes, but here is another one.
In 1988, Ken Russell did a little film called "Lair of the White Worm" (reviewed at this site.) Then in 1991, he did another little film called "Whore." A theater marquee in the second film shows that the film playing at the theater is, of course, "Lair of the White Worm."
Brad Pitt walking out of just seeing Tequilla Sunrise in Interview With A Vampire.
While watching Action Jackson this past week, a car chase scene drove past a movie theater whose marquee was pimping Creepozoids. :teddyr:
From the 1980 film Times Square is a marquee featuring NURSE SHERRI (aka HOSPITAL OF TERROR) and HOUSE OF PSYCHOTIC WOMEN (aka BLUE EYES OF THE BROKEN DOLL).

In Fight Club, the theater next door to the restaurant is playing Seven Years in Tibet, which starred Brad Pitt.
Blink and you'll miss it: in Strange Invaders (1983) there's a marquee showing Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981).
in Ghost Chase (1987) you'll see giant movie ads for the documentary Marlene (1984) and 'Round Midnight (1986).
