What a shocker. Started watching the Andy Griffith show when Ron Howard and I were five years old.
This makes me sad. The man was a true American icon.
Very sad to hear this.
Griffith was an icon to several generations. Before his television work he make several memorable films, including the hilarious comedies NO TIME FOR SEARGENTS and ONIONHEAD, and of course the brilliant and disturbing A FACE IN THE CROWD.
Here's Griffith and the routine that first brought him to fame: What It Was, Was Football.

That was the first thing I heard this morning when my alarm radio went off. Really sad to hear he's gone, I always enjoyed The Andy Griffith Show and Matlock. He just seemed like a genuinely good person.
RIP :bluesad:
Good night ANDY, there will never be anyone like you. We will miss you!
R.I.P. Andy Griffith. His mark on TV and film will not soon be forgotten. :bluesad:

And they always seem to be doing what they accuse their opponents of... we have one or two in fact right here. :bluesad:
Dang.
I LOVE that show.
I remeber when I was a little kid I was at a foster home-about 1969-I was watching The BLOB-and the foster Mom walked in and turned the channel to Andy Griffth rerun.
Not so bad.
I really wanted to see the Blob, though.
The famous whistle song actually had lyrics!
