Okay, I'm afraid this may be difficult. I only saw one scene from this movie when it was on TV maybe 10 years ago. I can say that it's probably from the 70s or 80s, in colour, and in English. The movie seemed to be set in a jungle and I think the guys may have been wearing camouflage gear.
The scene I remember is one character (I'll call him "Jimbo") is talking to some other guy outside. Jimbo tells the other guy about Russian roulette, saying it's a game they play and encourages the other person to put the gun to his head and pull the trigger. The other guy balks at this, eventually tries to run, and Jimbo shoots him with the gun (I think he tried to rig the game first so if the other guy played he would have shot himself).
After this, Jimbo meets up with some woman, they kiss (they may have been in a helicopter parked on the ground), then it starts to rain. After it shifts to a shot of a swamp and some monster (looked like a person just caked in mud/sludge) rises from the muck. I'm pretty sure it moaned when it did this.
Does anyone know what this scene was from? It's been bugging me for years and I wasn't able to figure it out.
This is the obvious film that comes to mind....

Sadly it was not the Deer Hunter. The scene I recall occurred outside, not in a hut.
Sounds like my old standby "movie that nobody's ever heard of:" Dance of the Dwarfs/Jungle Heat  .
The scene wherein Jimbo ("Harry Bediker") played Russian Roulette ("Cuban Roulette") sounds almost exactly like it, and the helicopter and muck monsters rising from the swamp (one of the titular "Dwarves") only makes me all the more sure. Was there a second bandit who ran off and eventually fell into a boiling pit of mud?
Does this look like it?:

That is exactly it! Wow, I'm surprised anyone knew the answer. Thanks a lot.
Solved and confirmed by the OP.
It's hilarious how many times people have posted on here looking to remember DANCE OF THE DWARVES/JUNGLE HEAT. It is a weird one and one that played so routinely on HBO in the early 80s, only to disappear from the cultural radar almost completely. Not surprising that it has haunted our collective sub-conscious.......
