Title: The Guyver 2
Post by: systemcr4sh on April 28, 2002, 09:19:25 PM
I watched this one last weekend. Some good gore, some good fights, some bad acting. I enjoyed watching it. Maybe a little too long though. clocking in at a little over 2 hours it felt like a really long time.

Anyone else seen this?

I liked the first one and own it. This one was more violent.

Yeah, this needed some editing.  When the action/science fiction film is okay in quality I really need to watch something at about 90-100 minutes.  Once you go over 2 hours it starts to annoy me.

This being said, somebody please keep Costner away from making a sequel to "Spacehunter: AITFZ."  Please.

Is there a rumour to that effect?

I liked that movie, but then I was pretty young when I first saw it, but  then, I also like "Message From Space", "Starcrash", "Battle Beyond The Stars", and "Laserblast"

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! BOTH GUYVER FILMS WERE BAD BAD BAD!! Im not talking b-movie bad, I mean bad as in Power Rangers (on a low budget). I hated the live action movies. The anime series felt much more in the b-movie vein/vane/I suck at spelling.

"The Guyver 2:Dark Hero" is the best American-made attempt at a U.S. version of a Hong Kong flick, thanks to director/FX master Steve Wang, and scriptwriter/Hong Kong cinema fan Nathan Long. For once there's a movie that does proves that creativity and wild imagination(as well as mucho gore and kickass martial arts fights, and a plot that's superior over the original film)do exist in American film. Can't wait till Wang decides to make a third "Guyver" outing!

I'd love to see a decently budgeted version of the "Iria" anime.  I know they did movies covering later in time, but I'd like to see the anime converted to live action

Would that be related to the Zeram movies?

The anime are techncally called "Iria: Zeiram The Animation" and the movies were called "Zeiram" and "Zeiram 2"  I've only scene parts of one of the movies, which looked pretty cool.  I'd like to find them again.

The anime was great, though; and I'd love to see a good action treatment of it.

I've seen all of the first Zeiram movie, and parts of the anime. SFC showed it/them, but I only seemed to catch parts of it. Actually, other than what the SFC has shown and a few Americanized series, I haven't seen all that much anime. My friend had a few that he got at a convention (Megazone 23 part 2, Black Magic 66, one about a guy with no clue who accidentally ends up in a robotic power suit), but I haven't seen any recently.
