Title: Mecha-Blog-Zilla's latest review: "StarCrash"
Post by: TheDope on October 19, 2012, 04:58:38 PM
Sorry to be getting to you so late with this review, but I was bust questioning my sanity, my life and my rationale for watching a Star Wars ripoff so bad that it made Christopher Plummer look untalented.

...and Marjoe Gortner look talented. (http://thegreatwhitedope.blogspot.com/2012/10/starcrash-1978.html)

Caught this last night on Epix Drive-In.....it was amazingly awful! Yet I liked it so I think I'm getting weird in my old age. :teddyr:

I love this movie. It was my introduction to Italian exploitation cinema (and B-Movies in general) when I was just a wee lad.

...and besides, how could any red blooded teenage boy NOT love Stella Starr? Mmmm, boy howdy!!

Christopher Plummer is actually really good in this movie. Sure, he doesn't even TRY, but he imbues gallons of emotion into even the most stonefaced stare.

The robot on the other hand .. painful.

The Onion's AV Club did an interview w/Plummer a while back where they threw out various titles from his back catalog at him, so he could comment on each. When they got to "StarCrash," he said the main reason he did the movie was to get a free trip to Rome.  :teddyr:
