MURDERS IN THE RUE MORGUE (1932) on TCM tonight 9:45pm EST
I'm fortunate to have this on vhs-as-alas-I hae no cable or network tv.
And I've messed up this year and forgot to commerate Lugosi's Birthday!
Been working and hanging out with Tina a lot-I'll fix that this weekend-I've got a special Lugosi thread brewing in my little skull-gonna flesh it out for a special post this weekend! Until then-I leave you in the gentle hands of Dr.Mirakle and Janos....

And people say Lugosi cant act...BAH! FOOLS!
Karloff as a mad doctor was usually on some mission to better mankind-as in The INVISABLE RAY or his Columbia Mad Doctor films....not so Lugosi.
Bela usually wanted to prove some twisted theory(as in MURDERS IN THE RUE MORGUE), revenge on society (the DEVIL BAT),greed-(the HUMAN MONSTER)-or just plain bats**t crazy-(BRIDE OF THE MONSTER).

That sounds to me like a 200% good excuse for not doing anything else. :teddyr:

Yeah-we watched the EXORCIST,...and part II and III the other night!
We barley survived part II...but she was a trooper!
But I miss me BAD movie pals-and I'll be back-like a bad penny-I always come back....
Excellent movie.....but like RC I have no cable. Must find it on DVD.

Who says
LUGOSI can't act? You're right, they're fools! I ended up watching a lot of
THE BLACK CAT after
MURDERS IN THE RUE MORGUE though I'd sat through it just a few months ago. And though
THE BLACK CAT is a truly
dopey movie, it is creepy and
LUGOSI does a great job!
LUGOSI always delivers!

I don't think it's "excellent" but I like it.
LUGOSI always elevates whatever he appears in; I do think that
MURDERS IN THE RUE MORGUE is one of his better performances.
Oh, and it's
LEON AMES (credited as LEON WAYCOFF - his birth surname) playing Pierre Dupin.
