I little while ago, I came into possession of a record that was labeled as the soundtrack to Video Wars. After doing some research, I found out about the movie itself directed by Mario Giampaolo and starring George Diamond. After first getting the record and now reading about the movie, I would really like to get my hands on a copy of it. A VHS copy wound be amazing, but if anyone out there has a digital rip of it, that would be great as well. Any leads would be greatly appreciated! Please get in touch.
Thanks!
Imdb has no page for a movie called VIDEO WARS, no record of a director called Mario Giampaolo, and no mention of an actor by the name of George Diamond (there is a George Diamond but he's a sound engineer from the 1930s so clearly not the same guy)
This must be rare!
Yeah, there's not much information on it out there. I have links to a few pages that shed some light on it, but I guess since I'm new to the board I don't have permission to post links yet.
Again, any help would be most appreciated!
Some more info:

Directed by Mario Giampaolo
Released: 1983 (or 1984)

Yup, this is one of the pages I came across. Please keep the leads coming! I was told in another forum that there is a rip up on "CG" but I don't know what site they are referring to. Anyone have any ideas?
i have a vhs copy. i bought it at a hole-in-the-wall video rental store many years ago for $5.00. i would almost trade you for the record; the soundtrack is incredible!
Damn, ANOTHER movie to find.
Gotta love the VHS cover:

This thing doesn't even have an IMDb page? Damn, that is extremely obscure. What is the soundtrack like? Based on what I've read, I bet it's some cheesy Italo Disco.

you're pretty much spot on, and it's incredible.
What, pray tell, is the style of the music on this soundtrack.

Yep, just checked and there is a rip on there...
any chance i could get an invite to cg?
Someone seriously needs to find a copy of this flick. Interestingly, it is listed on Letterboxd.com with a review made.

I'm also interested in hearing the soundtrack. Is it possible to upload it at all?
it truly is an incredible film. i'll have my vhs copy back in my possession in a couple of months or so. i'll upload some screenshots ASAP.

You can already find some screenshots on a link posted here. What I want to see is the real deal, considering how incredibly obscure it is. You'd think Something Weird Video had gotten a hold of it at some point.
dudes... i think my uncle might have directed this. ill do some digging and see what i can come up with
So I confirmed with my family that it was indeed my uncle who directed "video wars". I have a rip of the film and the soundtrack on vinyl. I'm going to work on getting both up on YouTube or Vimeo. Ill post the links here in the thread.

Sorry, I wasn't sure what the policy here is about posting links to ripped movies. If the director's relative doesn't sort something out, I will.

That's incredible! It is seriously one of my favorite movies ever. I would love to hear what his inspiration/thought process was in making the film. REALLY looking forward to getting the soundtrack.

My condolences.
My this thread just gets more and more interesting!
Sorry about your uncle. :bluesad:
I don't have any invites at the moment, but I'll try to download it from CG this weekend and get it up somewhere for you guys...
I'm ripping my VHS copy now, and will post a link when it's done and uploaded. No promise as to the quality of the rip though; my recording equipment is pretty shoddy. Apologies in advance.
I could have sworn that I saw a review of the movie on HorrorNews.net. They recently updated their website and screwed up the links to their movie reviews though. I did a search just now and couldn't find it, or just didn't look hard enough. I'm pretty sure that's where I saw it though.

Thanks for the link for the movie. I will have to find this one.
Has this thing been uploaded yet? I'd like to see what it's like based on it's extreme obscurity.
I've just witnessed the inner cogs of the web B-community turning within this whole topic. This is awesome!:teddyr:

I was mistaken. They have a
Video Nasties movie review up there. But nothing on
Video Wars (1983).

i've ripped my vhs copy, and will work on uploading it this week. quality is fairly meh, apologies in advance.
Oh yeah, this should be fun. Not surprised about the video quality, considering the extreme rarity of this flick. On one note, someone has created an IMDb page for this obscurity.
Mostly, I'm looking forward to hearing the music.
Wrightmonger - This is my most wanted movie! What would it take for me to purchase or trade that VHS from you? Please let me know, and thanks!
- Zack
Well this sure has gotten interesting. My curiosity has been peaked,I hope they get this uploaded soon. Looking forward.
Some will be happy to know a film festival trailer advertising this obscurity (billed as a "Philly-shot classic") has been spotted on YouTube. Pure retro cheese, love it.

Still, a copy of the full film still has yet to show up.
Sorry to keep everyone hanging; life got kind of crazy for a while. I'm uploading now, will post the link as soon as it's done.
ivanproton - sorry, my copy isn't for sale.
I've got it uploaded, but apparently I'm not allowed to post links?
Hmm, apparently you have to make 11 posts to be able to post links, so here's #11...
And for post #12, I give you:

So you actually got it up finally? Good work, should be an interesting curiosity piece.
Anyone have a watch of this yet?
