I've been talking about it a long time, and I finally went through with it:

You just pointed out what pretty much everyone has been complaining about The Prey for centuries. There only seem to be selected few who find entertainment in The Prey's badness, including me. I don't think the cheese is dull, and there's lots of unintentional humor in my opinion.
It's nice to see that the uncut extended Japanese version was viewed for the review. That's a semi rare one Anchor Bay couldn't track down thus the reason they abandoned the idea of releasing a DVD.

Yeah, my viewpoint on it isn't a unique one. I would like to know if the movie ever actually had a script or if the director intended for it to have natural dialog like Open Water or Wolf Creek.  If so, then the movie would be way ahead of its time.

Thanks for reading!

I haven't seen this movie in years!  Don't look at it so much as a horror film, look at it as a romance film.  It's a story of romance for the ages.  A boy disfigured by fire, hated by the world who only wants one thing from life love.  This handicapped man struggles through his disfigurement just like the elephant man.  He lives alone in the woods to avoid hearing the screams that haunted him his whole life only to have campers come along and torment him all over again.  Does it really make him a "monster" when he snaps and strikes out?  In the end he finds a woman who will spend the rest of her life with him.  A truly touching story.

There, I think I've used my BS quota for the day.  :bouncegiggle: :bouncegiggle:

Thanks for the review, I'm going to ask around to see if my friends have a copy of this for me to borrow.

The movie was made by people from the porn industry, which should explain the natural dialog

I did enjoy reading your review, but what I was trying to say in my first reply was that its easier to bash a bad movie than to praise its badness while still calling it bad. Even I struggle at times trying to do that. Joe Bob was great at doing so, though.

My personal The Prey verdict would be: If you love bad movies and slasher movies, you'll be amusingly rewarded with The Prey  :drink:
