Playing Aliens: Colonial Marines got me wanting to watch the Alien movies again. While watching Alien, I noticed something I never had before, and it's been troubling me.
Why in the hell did the Alien take Lambert's pants off??? :buggedout:
Magic. :tongueout: Nah, I think it was going for surprise butt sex. :buggedout: Good lord I need help! D:
I can't believe I've never noticed that :bouncegiggle: From other movies I've watched, women often strip down a bit when the action starts. It allows more freedom of movement I believe. :teddyr:
I just watched the director's cut about a month ago. Alien has sexual overtones throughout the film. Mostly rape. Maybe that's why her pants were off, though I never noticed it before.
I never gave that a second thought. Now it's bothering me.
It will always bother me.
Alien is full of rape analogy/imagery.
Are we talking about the Alien with Siguourney Weaver???? I did not pick up on the sexual overtones in this movie.
I have it and will have to watch it again. I don't remember the depantsing.

John

It starts with Kane getting a "face full of alien wing-wong (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/FaceFullOfAlienWingWong)" and goes downhill from there. Next up is a rape pregnancy analogy. And there's the extra mouth that pops a few feet out of the adult alien's normal mouth.

Actually, I don't, either. I remember Ripley gratuitously stripping in the shuttle, but not Lambert being de-pantsed. I do remember the alien's prehensile tail going between her legs during its attack on her, though.
I don't think that scene is in the original version. As people say, it's most likely a sexual overtone. I didn't quite know what it was about at first.
I kinda liked ALIEN-for some dum, insane reason-I dont think its all that great. I like HR Giger's monster design, though. This is IT! THE TERROR FROM BEYOND SPACE updated.

Interesting, I never knew about that movie. I guess you could classify Alien as a "remake" of that movie, almost like The Thing (1982) was a "remake" of The Thing from Another World (1951)

Yes. It was a direct rip off of that movie.More special effects-but Ridley Scott admitted to it.
hmmm...I don't recall the alien raping anyone in those movies...

Not literally, no. Just suggestive situations.

Your link doesn't show... I can only see it because I'm quoting you.
Well, I put in a link to it, at least.
But I don't see it taking off Lambert's pants! :teddyr:
Giger's work is all about sexual overtones. The designs/images that made it into the film are tame by comparison. The alien itself has a phallus for a head...and that's not suggestive?
Bette Midler is quoted as saying "Did you see that film ALIEN with John Hurt? That little [expletive deleted] came rocketing outta his stomach like a penis on a skateboard crying Mummy all the way." :buggedout: :teddyr: :teddyr:

Not many others in this thread remember this. Perhaps this was wishful imagination on the part of the OP? :teddyr:
Fueled by curiosity to see an Alien remove someone's pants, I went to The Alien Legacy boxset that has sat unwatched since the day I bought it. It's a great movie, and manages its scares and atmosphere without the use of background music for the most part, just good directorial and cinematographic skill. But I was really there to see, well, you know.
I'm not sure if The Alien Legacy has theatrical releases or director's cuts, but many of the scenes with the Alien munching down on people seem oddly choppy and short. The scene of Lambert's death is as follows:
The Alien looms over Lambert, who is terrified into motionlessness, while Parker stands behind the Alien and yells to Lambert to get out of the way. The Alien turns and grabs Parker, and munches down on him. Lambert remains frozen, and there is a moment where the Alien's tail slowly drifts along the floor, between Lambert's feet, and then up the back of her legs towards her waistband. Ripley hears Lambert's screams and comes running: she finds Parker lying bloodied on the ground, and we see Lambert's bare calves and shoeless feet as she dangles from the ceiling.
So it does seem that the Alien took off Lambert's pants! Why it did this, I do not know. Is there another version of this scene, or was that it?

This is the only alternate take of that scene that I know of. There's no audio in this clip or on the deleted scene of Disc 1. It's funny seeing the alien do a crab walk.
