I have just watched Wassap Rockers for the first time which I quite enjoyed and got me thinking, " There are loads of films I like that are all based in a day". Some examples:
Mallrats & Clerks ( not Clerks 2, I can't stress that enough )
Dazed and Confused
Breakfast Club
Ferris Bullers Day Off
I'm sure there are more, but just wandering what your favourites were.
Oh and Groundhog Day does not count.
Just saw Richard Linklater's SLACKER and it was set in one day, along his next movie, DAZED AND CONFUSED.
THE BREAKFAST CLUB counts. So does AMERICAN GRAFFITI. Also 12 ANGRY MEN.
One of the reasons that so many movies occur in a one-day time frame is that Aristotle said they should. No kidding; Greek tragedies almost always covered a one-day time span and for years it was considered an informal rule for dramas. Many storytellers consider it a challenge to fit a story into a single day.
DIRTY MARY CRAZY LARRY
Just watched this last weekend.
NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD
Well, it happens during one night.
First one I thought of was the 80s teen movie "Three O'Clock High," which takes place over the course of one school day.
Kids (1995)
Night of the Demons
The Warriors
not counting those mentioned already The Evil Dead and Collateral
What was that one by Spike Lee, about a pizza parlor, and they burn it down at the end?

Great choice.
* NICK OF TIME
* THE TOWERING INFERNO
* THE OUT-OF-TOWNERS (actually, crosses over into the next day, but it all takes place within 24 hours)
HIGH NOON
It's been a while since I've watched it, but I think GO takes place over a 24-hour period.
Do the Right Thing was kind of a ridiculous blaxploitation movie in retrospect

* THE TOWERING INFERNO
That reminded me of :
The Poseidon Adventure.
Also:
Adventures is Babysitting
Feast took place in a brutally short amount of time. I don't know for sure about the second one, I'd have to watch it again, and I havn't seen the third one.
Splinter (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1031280/?ref_=sr_1) is another one. I really like that movie, the concept for the monster is awesome and the effects work is great.
Run Lola Run
Not sure if it counts, as I'm a little hazy on solar cycles in space, but I think Alien was all one day.

LOL....you read my mind. I love The Breakfast Club.....great character study of the teenage mind.
And then there was real time.
It is a film concept where an event in a film takes the same amount of time in a film that it'd take, if it happened in real life. Over 100 films, shorts, TV programs, and video games have used this film concept.
Here are seven that I've seen. From the longest to the shortest time in minutes, and, of course, they all took place within one day.
Fantastic Voyage 100
12 Angry Men (1957) 96
Clue 94
Nick of Time 90
High Noon 85
The Rope 80
The Set-up 73
There just might be something to the concept, as of the seven films I've seen, there is not one that I disliked.
Escape from New York and I'm pretty sure Escape from LA take place in a day.
Mathieu Kassovitz's The Crimson Rivers takes place over 24 hours. :smile:

Would you class Cloverfield as one of these?

There was some cuts in Cloverfield where they travelled large distances due to time purposes.
THE SADIST with badmovie favorite Arch Hall Jr. I believe the whole movie is in real time actually.
Airplane.
Dog Day Afternoon
Rope
Looking at my signature how I didn't mention Dr. Strangelove is beyond me.
Both Crank movies are set during one day
Die Hard
DEMENTIA aka DAUGHTER OF HORROR takes place over the course of one night
