So when is James Bond NOT James Bond?
Apparently when he's swilling scotch, doing needlepoint, being a misogynist and tending to his cats.
...oh yeah, and taking out North Sea terrorists.
That's when. (http://thegreatwhitedope.com/ffolkes-1979/)

I think the first line in the synopsis "So when is James Bond NOT James Bond?" hits the nail on the head. This was--apparently, as I understood it at the time--Moore's attempt to get away from his image as Bond. Of course, how did the filmmakers advertise the film? Why as a Bond type film. Which would seem to defeat the purpose of making the film. Anyway, another fine review, so I am looking forward to the next review.
I liked this movie a lot. It's especially amusing when all of ffolkes's carefully laid plans start to go awry, and he still has to find a way to make everything work.
