Very bummed about this. I was just listenin' to Hell Awaits a bunch last week.
Bustin' out the rest of my vintage Slayer CDs for today's commute.
R.I.P. Jeff. Thrash on!!
That is a damned shame. SLAYER had a huge talent in HANNEMAN.
Don't listen to much Slayer anymore, but 'Show no Mercy' and 'Hell Awaits' are some of my favorite metal albums of all time. RIP.
I..... I'm scared.
Very sad indeed. I've been a lifelong Slayer fan since their first album "Show No Mercy" was released back in 1983 (I was in the 3rd grade and owned it on vinyl). Jeff Hanneman wrote the majority of Slayer's best known tracks such as Angel of Death and Raining Blood to mention a couple. He was a true metal titan and my favorite metal guitarist of all time too. Here are some of my all time favorite Jeff Hanneman tracks.
"The Antichrist"

"Die by the Sword"

"At Dawn They Sleep" (Hanneman wrote all of the music and co-wrote the lyrics)

"Angel of Death"

"Postmortem" (lyrics/music Hanneman) and "Raining Blood" (music: Hanneman Lyrics Hanneman/King)

These classic tracks go from one straight into the next so I'm glad that I was able to find that had both of them together.
"South of Heaven" (music: Hanneman lyrics: Araya)

"Dead Skin Mask" (music: Hanneman lyrics: Araya)

and my favorite all time Slayer track "War Ensemble"! (music: Hanneman lyrics: Araya, Hanneman)

I want to see a live stream of a video of this.

These bastards have no respect at all, they deserve to be punished. Brutally.
Premier Guitar got Testament lead guitarist Alex Skolnick to write the best eulogy of Jeff Hanneman that I've read to date. Well worth checking out!
