I searched but did not see a thread on the new season yet. I am looking forward to it's return, and I hope they have stayed as faithful to the original run as possible. Any thoughts on the new season?

I'm looking forward to it while keeping my expectations low.
So, I watched the first 3 episodes. Not bad. There were no huge, classic laughs, but for a series fan it was fun to see what the characters were up to over the years. I wasn't crazy about Michael's plot line (the first episode), but they seem to be getting better as things come together. Interested to see what's up with the ostrich.
I too only caught the first 3 episodes last night, and I agree with your assessment of it. I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes from here.
I know there are more AD fans here somewhere!
I just signed up to a vpn and netflix purely so I could just check it out. I wasn't wild about the last season [the hair plugs plot line bugged me] but I still love the show.
Early thoughts are that its not bad, but not brilliant. My housemate says it gets alot better after a while and repeat viewings, but I'll wait and see.
Indeed. After view episodes 4 to 9, the show is getting better. The writing is funnier and the characters, especially in their interactions with new characters, is improving. I especially like the numerous references to prior seasons and the way in which each family member's story ties into the overall story arch. I'm pleased with it so far.
It's not perfect, but it is sure as hell close enough. So far it (4 episodes in) has me hooked and I look forward to watching the rest. Alia Shawcat is still beautiful.
I'm loving the new season so far. I'm about 7 episodes in (my original plan was to watch them all on the night they came out, but that didn't happen).
It's not quite as laugh-a-minute as the previous seasons, but I think the writing is still top-notch. The cast is all back in fine form as well. I can't wait to finish it up...
