The IMDB is reporting that the great character actor Ed Lauter passed away. :bluesad: RIP: The first film I ever saw him in was Tom Gries' Breakheart Pass, based on the book by Alistair MacLean.
Remember him playing a cop in DEATH WISH 3.

Remember him playing a cop in DEATH WISH 3.
RIP
I remember meeting him a few years ago at one of the East Coast Chiller Theatre shows, and he signed a picture of himself playing the captain of the jail guards in the original
The Longest Yard. Other movies he played in were
Magic,
Youngblood and
Northwest Passage to name a few. He was a true TV and movie legend. Rest in peace indeed. :bluesad:
Awww! Another wonderful character actor gone. He was in such a variety of films from Cujo to How the West Was Won to Revenge of the Nerds II....sad loss indeed. :bluesad:
What is with this year? So many actors passing away! RIP Mr. Lauter.
Bummer. I just saw "Death Wish 3" a month or so ago. Mr. Lauter was great in it as the semi-crooked cop.
Very recognizable. 42 years in films and on TV. His acting debut was in the TV series "Mannix" back in 1971. And he's not finished yet. He's in "Blind Pass," which should be out sometime this year. And next year, in 2014, he has two more films set to be released. A remake of "The Town That Dreaded Sundown," which is in post-production, and "Becker's Farm," which is in pre-production. R.I.P. Ed.
I remember this from my childhood. Does this qualify as a bad movie?
Cujo (1983)
[Joe Camber/Ed Lauter has encountered Cujo in the garage. Cujo glares at him menacingly & growls]
Ed Lauter: Cujo?
[the dog snarls again, and approaches him menacingly]
Ed Lauter: Oh my God... you're rabid!
[Cujo barks savagely and charges at Joe. He puts his arms up to defend himself as Cujo attacks]
Ed Lauter: [yelling] NO! NO! CUJO!
[the dog jumps on him & knocks him down]
