Title: A legitimate scare or good scene in a bad scare in a bad movie
Post by: Ozzymandias on October 17, 2013, 02:54:17 PM
Ozzymandias speaks: I'm working on a blog post for "my evil twin brother's blog" and I need a little help. I was working on a top 5 of legitimate scares or good scenes that were in some of the all-time worst horror films. So far, my list contains three: The old lady in House on Haunted Hill (Original), the decapitated head in the roaster pot in The Ghastly Ones, and Tor Johnson rising from the grave in Plan 9 from Outer Space.

After that I'm kind of stumped for ideas for the other two. Possibly, the thing ripping off the guys arm in The Brain That Wouldn't Die and/or the kid dreaming that he is sprouting foliage in Troll 2. Any suggestions? If I see some good ones I might go to 10.

Is it okay that I found the ending to Troll 2 genuinely unsettling (I mean that as a praise, of course)? In fact, as bonkers as I may sound, I've always thought there was a good movie hidden in Troll 2, and that's part of what makes it so infamously wonderful.

Ozzymandias speaks: I need to find a copy of Troll 2 and watch it. I've just seen clips on You Tube and various sources. Of the clips I've seen, the nightmare the kid has in the car was the only one I did bust a gut watching.

Just watched Pieces. The "corpse puzzle" falling out of the closet was a shock to me and the end was pretty good too. All I had seen of that movie was the clip of the girl wetting her pants and Linda Day George screaming "Bastard!" over and over.

Like I said, if this thread keeps going I may expand the list.
