SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Shirley Temple, the dimpled, curly-haired child star who sang, danced, sobbed and grinned her way into the hearts of Depression-era moviegoers, has died, according to publicist Cheryl Kagan. She was 85...
I didn't know she was still alive.

I didn't know she was still alive.
She's not...
RIP Ms Temple-Black.
I noticed when NBC reported this they talked about her long time marriage to Charles Black but did not mention her brief marriage to Bad Movie icon John Agar.

Sometimes people imagine they're movie buffs, but aren't at all.

She had a daughter with
JOHN AGAR, too.
Aw....I grew up with her films. She was a fixture on the afternoon movie shows. One of my favorites was "Heidi"...

She became ambassador to Ghana and had a drink named after her.
I'd say that was a successful life.
She apparently never let Agar see the kid. someone in Nightmare of Ecstacy said

Maybe the rum is a later addition to make the drink palatable to adults; I think I recall seeing youngsters drink "Shirley Temples" in old movies, maybe not, but I always thought of that as a non-alcoholic drink.
She will live on in our hearts & minds, & her name will be remembered on the lips of small children in restaurants pretending to order a cocktail...

The 'Shirley Temple' is the familiar nonalcoholic version created for Ms. Temple herself.
It's made with ginger ale (or lemon-lime soda), grenadine, and a Maraschino cherry.
The 'Shirley Temple Black' is the +alcohol version. :teddyr:
I guess a 'Shirley Temple Agar' would be a cheap bottle of hooch with a cherry-flavored cough drop.
I'd love to try a "Shirley Temple Black" but I've never seen ginger beer for sale anywhere.
Shirley Temples are awesome
with the Rum it's called a Dirty Shirley but who's gonna order that?
My love. Our love. Don't forget to love.

RIP Shirley.
Besides being the U.S. ambassador to Ghana, she was also . . .
a delegate to the U.N.
the U.S. ambassador to Czechoslovakia, . . .
but don't look for it, as it no longer exists in that form, as the 1 became 2. Czecho being the western looking part of the country, and Slovakia being the eastern looking part of the country they came apart a number of years ago in what became known as the Velvet Revolution.
U.S. Chief of Protocol
Ran for Congress in California, but lost in the Republican primary to anti-war Vietnam vet Pete McCloskey.
Hostess of TV's "Shirley Temple Theater," . . .
and the "Rapunzel" episode still scares the s### out of me over 50 years after I first saw it.
Twice tried out for "Our Gang/Little Rascals" and failed both times.
And topless actress. Of course, she was only 4 years old, when she first started appearing in the "Baby Burlesk" series of shorts.
R.I.P. Shirley.
Flights of angels sing you to your rest.
