Title: Test: How Psychopathic Are You?
Post by: ER on April 07, 2014, 12:30:44 PM
This is the infamous psychopathy test developed by Robert D. Hare and Paul Babiak, two of the world's foremost authorities on psychopaths and psychopathic behavior. Most true psychopaths score a 40 on a 0-40 scale, with a 30 or higher being suggestive of leanings toward psychopathic traits.

I scored a 12. The person who took it with me scored a 23 so I'm not turning my back on him anymore.

To take this, evaluate yourself on each group of traits listed, and in each category score yourself as either 0, 1, or 2. Add your numbers up at the end. The higher the score the more likely to be a psychopath you may be.

Are you:

Glib and superficially charming?

Do you have grandiose feelings of inflated self-worth?

Do you have a high need for stimulation because of being prone to boredom?

Do you often tell lies and mislead?

Are you cunning and manipulative?

Do you lack remorse or a sense of guilt?

Are you emotionally lacking or cold?

Do you live a parasitic lifestyle?

Do you find it hard to control certain aspects of your behavior?

Are you sexually promiscuous?

Did you have behavior problems as a child?

Do you have a lack of realistic long-term goals for yourself?

Are you often impulsive?

Would you say you are irresponsible?

Do you find it difficult to accept responsibility for your own actions?

Have you had many short-lived relationships in your life?

Did you have a history of juvenile delinquency?

Have you had probation or parole revoked due to a repeat of criminal behavior?

Do you have criminal versatility?

Do you find other people's pain funny?

I'm about a 12 as well, but it really depends on if you rate yourself very self-critically vs. rating yourself in comparison to other people.  For instance, "Do you have grandiose feelings of inflated self-worth?"  Well sure, I can catch myself being a tad egotistical from time to time, so maybe a 1, but compared to say Justin Bieber? More like a -5.

What's the opposite of a psychopath?  I scored a 6.

I can't come up with a definitive yes or no answer to any of these questions.
I learned how to lie on the MMPI...

I don't really trust these things though - I once took two separate but fairly similarly questioned tests for Asperger's Syndrome and one test said it was highly likely I had it and the other said there was no likelihood at all.

I wouldn't invest in this test any more than I would the Liberian stock market..

The one question about "behavioral problems as a child" wears a few hats here, esp. with regards to children who were ritually teased\abused by their classmates who are often labeled as psychotic for fighting back the only ways they know how. It's not the kid's fault when it's the result of someone else's repeated actions upon a weaker individual or individuals.

I say this because in almost every case, the teasers\abusers wind up getting a free get-out-of-jail card while the victims get punished for fighting back, usually at the hands of those who see teasing\abuse as "a developmental tool".   There's nothing developmental about it...it ruins lives and leaves kids scarred for life in some cases.  If anything, the teasers\abusers are the psychotic ones, because they repeatedly perform actions intended to hurt others, and that in itself isn't right.

True. Also, "behavioral problems" could mean "The teachers got after me a lot because I had trouble sitting still in class" or it could mean "I got caught lighting small animals on fire."

You have a valid point there, although I'd rather have a kid have trouble sitting still in class than having him light small animals on fire. I think we can all agree on that one.

Of course it didnt ask if I feel like just killing people from a water tower for fun...or just going on a rampage with a shotgun at work.
Then-I might fail.

I scored a 6.  Mostly, lack of ability to relate or empathize with people at times.
