You've seen 21 out of 176 films!
You're off to a good start! You know there's more to female filmmakers than the idea of the "chick flick," but there's still plenty out there for you to see, so get watching!

Seems like most of the female filmmakers make stuff I'm not interested in. Oh well.

14. I guess my taste in films is just too damn manly.
Side note: I had no idea that "Billy Madison" was directed by a woman.
31: my feminist Mom will kick my ass.
2 and they were kinda mediocre
Just 23 so far. Of those, the ones I liked best were:
American Splendor
The Hitch-Hiker
Pay It Forward
Big
Shrek
Something's Gotta Give
Monster
The Hurt Locker
Brave
Frozen
Clueless
The Proposal
Some of those films I haven't seen that they have listed there do look truly awful. They left out the Look Who's Talking films directed by Amy Heckerling....

That surprised the hell out of me.
A whopping 12. They remade Endless Love? LOL the first one was bad enough.
13, but I really don't usually like the types of movies that were among the choices. Of those I didn't see from the list but intentdto are Frozen, Pay It Forward, Shrek, Monster, The Hurt Locker, Brave and The Bling Ring.
42 (or 24%).
From these, I'd recommend Persepolis. This tale of a rebellious girl's coming-of-age in Iran during the Iranian Revolution has managed to quietly captivate most people I've shown it to.
Only about 20 of them, although I was trying to keep it to movies I watched entirely, instead of ones I've only watched bits and pieces of them.
I keep meaning to watch American Splendor andPersepolis. And Blackfish just to see whats fueling the Sea World backlash.
Pretty low, at 15. Interesting that there seems to be some sort of consistency: none of the ones I had not seen really jumped out at me as "How did I miss that one?"
I've seen 13, some of them not by choice, and there's at least four more on that list that I wanted to see.
26, though a good portion were with family so not necessarily by choice, good or bad thing im not sure.

Yes, someone on this board has seen fewer women directed films than I have, as I have seen only 4 of those listed.
I did find the list interesting, even if I haven't seen many of the films listed.
(1) Looking at the list, I think it is clear that women have directed some of the best films ever seen, and they have directed some of the worst films ever seen, and everything in between.
(2) Also since the films were sorted by the year they were released, from oldest to newest, it does look like women are getting more of a chance to direct, which is as it should be.
Only 20....gee. And I'm a girl. :teddyr:
Only sixteen....

The list is kind of worthless since it doesn't have any Doris Wishman movies on it. Where's NUDE ON THE MOON? BAD GIRLS GO TO HELL?
No Jackie Kong either. Where's BLOOD DINER?

Exactly. And where are some of Kathryn Bigelow's other films like Blue Steel, Near Dark and Strange Days.
I found 29 that I had seen.
51 but I have to admit there were a ton I didn't see on the list that I could easily have added [Just re-watched Strange Days the other night actually, which is always worth a watch]. That and there were a number there I had never even heard of before.
73
Finally was able to take it-23...but that dont mean s**t-cuz I've seen films by chicks that aint on the list-like HUMANIODS OF THE DEEP,and Doris Wishman and Roberta Findalys flicks!
