Life imitates art. An internet legend inspires attempted murder. Crazy stuff.

He's REAL, I tell you!! :buggedout:
Of all the internet created "legends" I always thought Slenderman was the stupidest and unscariest. As for the crime, some kids are idiots apparently.
This took place not too far from my town. :bluesad:
The serious of the subject is reflected by the fact that they are being tried as adults, when at that age--12--they'd normally be tried as juveniles, and that their names and faces are shown in the article. There again with someone that young, their names and pictures of them would normally be upheld from any news article.
Their victim is lucky in a physical sense, as she came mighty close to being a dead victim. But, emotionally and mentally, she'll probably suffer from the attack for the rest of her life. I hope she gets all the help she needs to survive all this.
And her attackers are lucky, too, in one way, they could have been looking at a homicide charge instead of an attempted homicide charge.
Really, all this story does is make me sad, as the lives of 3 girls have been changed inalterablely.
Today a judge ruled the two will be charged as adults.
This is why the internet is a tool and not a toy. The internet gives power to crazy people! And it's so hard for a parent to diffused this crap.
If your a parent and your child is under the age of 16... you have to supervise what your kid is doing on the internet. You need to do that talk with your kid about the internet, and you need to explain them from early on that there are crazy people and will say/do crazy things.
I do think it's sad that these girls going to be charged as adults, but it would be much sadder if those girls killed the other girl, too. (if this makes the parents wise up and supervise their children activities on the internet... then we NEED those 2 girls to sit in jail for a long long time... )
On the other hand, what if those 2 girl were charged as children and released and the next day they shoot up a school or a show and said 'Slenderman told them' [Sorry but that's too freaking risky]
one of them teens pled guilty to a lesser charge

total bulls**t, not even close to a steep enough sentence if found guilty
so this.......just got weirder
warrants were issued for potential jurors
and both girls are going to a psychward, no jail time
bulls**t
