So this is new on Netflix. Or at least to me it's new.

The production value isn't half bad, and this was financed by Kickstarter. Good costuming, decent acting, plot full of holes, awful fight choreography. Overall, it was pretty fun.
Looks worth a watch. Somewhere on the level of those old Hercules the Legendary Journeys movies or the Dungeon and Dragons straight to video sequels.
I do love the fact that almost anyone can make a movie of some real quality these days.
It's definitely better than the D&D straight to video sequel. I watched this because of this thread, and I enjoyed it. Pretty excellent makeup, entertaining story and characters, mostly pretty good performances. Worth a watch for fantasy fans who want something that feels like one of the 80s fantasy films (Beastmaster, Deathstalker, etc), that's the best comparison I can make.
I'll say by the way I thought the fight choreography actually wasn't bad. It's not as good as something like LOTR, but I thought it compared well to most of the stuff from the 80s, and it probably had 1/30th the budget.
Biggest letdowns - production feels small, even though it aims high. Few big shots, more like a TV production. Also, there's a "horde" thing which is obviously mean to be big, but is visibly only like 8 guys. Also, the lack of lighting equipment for the outdoor shots (reflectors, highlight lights, etc) sometimes makes it look a little "home movieish" in some shots.
Also, if you look at the Netflix reviews, I love the people complaining about how fake the CG monster at the end looks. It's pretty clearly NOT CG.
Judging by the trailer, that looks at least as good as anything that Uwe Boll has ever done.
Axes? Bows and arrows? Clubs? Guns? Swords? Check!
Dragons? Vampires? Wereanimals? Double check!
People bumping into trees? Terrible SFX? Triple check!
I'm there. It looks like a terrible film, but also a terribly fun film to watch. The kind that I wish would come soon to a theater near where I live, but never does. I'll have to see if I can pick it up on TV sometime while I am on vacation.
That reminds me of some of the more fun MST3Ks as well. Riffable, yet not leaving any nasty side effects like say, MANOS or STARFIGHTERS.
