QuoteOscar-winning British film director Richard Attenborough has died at the age of 90, his son has said.
Lord Attenborough was one of Britain's leading actors, before becoming a highly successful director.
In a career that spanned six decades, he appeared in films including Brighton Rock, World War Two prisoner of war thriller The Great Escape and later in dinosaur blockbuster Jurassic Park.
As a director he was perhaps best known for Gandhi, which won him two Oscars.
We're losing a lot of great ones. :bluesad:
R.I.P. :bluesad:
He was very talented.
He lost his granddaughter in the Boxing Day Tsunami about 10 years ago. I heard he never got over it.
Hopefully they are together again.
He was a brilliant filmmaker with one exception (Cry Freedom) and a brilliant actor with no exception.

He also lost his daughter in that tsunami.
I may have been mistaken - or did they both perish? I just remember how devastated he was
when he gave his public statement. My heart went out to the poor old man.

They both died, unfortunately.

The makes of Jurassic World released this image from the movie in his honor.
Not only was he in my favorite movie series (the Jurassic Park films), but I think he was one of my favorite Santa Claus from his role in the A Miracle on 34th Street.
