Some people took their response to the PSYCO shower scene a little too seriously.

Apparently so. Apparently, the shower scene in "Psycho" had an effect on at least one young woman.

A man wrote to Hitchcock saying to effect, that after seeing 1955's "Les Diaboliques" his daughter refused to take another bath. Then after seeing "Psycho," the daughter now also refused to take a shower. And he was wondering what he should do, because--frankly--his daughter was beginning to stink pretty bad.

Hitchcock's reply, reportedly: "Dry clean her!"
