Can you think of any acts that you once may have liked, or even loved, but now CAN'T STAND?
I listen to a lot of oldies radio and satellite and enjoy hearing unusual choices, or choice selections. But then, inevitably, these come on:
THE SUPREMES
THE STEVE MILLER BAND
I expect there are more for me...
When I was a kid, I bought a lot of WINGS albums, and PAUL McCARTNEY... I love the BEATLES... I really enjoy those bluesy Rockers that PAUL is most responsible for delivering and there is no doubt that he is a phenomenally talented songwriter, but... I mostly do not want to hear those drippy songs he has written... unfair, but, really "Londontown"? "And I Love Her"? "Treat Her Gently"? "Honey Pie"? I read in RS Record Guide one of those critics complain about "Yer Blues" (which is JOHN of course)... really? Certainly "critics" (and I'm one) don't know their asses from their elbows.
What MUSICAL acts that you once may have liked, or even loved, but now CAN'T STAND? :teddyr:
Led Zeppelin.
I know. Big shock.
Growing up as a 90s kid I listened to a lot of the Gen-X stuff, but had an appreciation for "Classic Rock." My friend's day loved Zeppelin. Used to dig a few of their songs/albums.
Upon recent relistenings...I've LOATHED them. I just can't dig it. At all. So much so that when they're played on local radio, I change the channel.

Gee, I wish I'd hear more
LED ZEPPELIN on my radio (though I do once in awhile). I of course remember you HATED
NEIL YOUNG...? :teddyr:
I did at one point hate Neil Young. But I grew to like him.
Zeppelin had the opposite effect. I liked them and ended up not liking them so much.
Odd, no? :buggedout:
Recently it's Stevie Ray Vaughan. All his stuff just sounds the same to me - that nasally guitar tone and he always plays like he just drank three pots of coffee. He still put on the best concert I've ever seen in my life though.
Def Leppard
Aerosmith and Metallica :bluesad:
I loved the Smiths in high school but don't really enjoy them now. I ended up preferring The Stooges and going crazy to licking my wounds.
Also, I listened to Minor Threat for the first time in 20 years recently and they were really kind of preachy and not much fun.
Bon Jovi. When I was in 5th grade Slippery When Wet was the shiznit. I begged and begged my parents for it. Now I honestly wouldn't care if I heard them ever again.

Well, that's just becoming a grown-up. Nobody should be finding Morrissey profound once they get past high school age.

Yeah, I went through a mad-for-Bon Jovi phase too. But I don't hate them now, just indifferent.
At one time I thought Dinosaur Jr was the greatest band in the world, but I never listen to them now for some reason. all their their stuff is kind of boring to me these days
This is probably more growing up than anything, but when I was a wee spud I kinda got into Green Day for a short bit, thankfully I discovered this new thing called the internet shortly after and discovered actual music. Thank you internets. That and In Flames's stuff nowadays,I just cant get into it. I know bands grow and change usually but their new sound (well kind of old by now probably) is kind of eh.

Yeah zombie, I used to love Dinosaur Jr too. Dont listen to them at all anymore. I was a massive Soundgarden fan for a while but I cant really dig their two final albums. Initially they blew me away but it doesnt seem like theyve aged too well. Speaking of not aging well, Godflesh were my number one band through high school, the Pure album especially but it breaks my heart that I just cant bring myself to listen to them anymore. Their new album seemed kinda meh too. Oh well, I still have Jesu.
